Job Description

My client is looking for an infrastructure support technician to join their team for an initial 3-6 months contract to start ASAP. You will be responsible for the primary support of Digital Infrastructure Plans in the refresh of LANs (network switches, WiFi access points etc) in a number of prioritised buildings. You will support the Unified Communications Technical Lead in developing the their network systems including wide area networks, telecommunications systems, Instant Messaging systems, Video Conferencing systems, WiFi, local area networks and network access & Internet security systems. Specific responsibilites The maintenance of the Authority's Communications Systems to include the platforms on which they reside. Responsible for identified areas of Systems administration, ensuring the implementation of the security set up and system documentation To work with the Unified Communications Analysts in liaising with system users, Front Office Support and to assist in developing service improvements To work with the Unified Communications Analysts in managing and maintaining accurate records of data network / telephony systems and configurations and incorporate into the ICT Change Management Process. To assist the Unified Communications Analysts in working with the Authority's network and telecommunications partners on the design and development of ICT services. To assist the Unified Communication Analysts in researching telecommunication, data networking and technology developments. Under the guidance of the Unified Communications Analysts provide user departments advice for the optimum use of communications to enable efficient running of applications across the Authority's Networks To assist the Unified Communication Analysts in supporting the ICT Services' managers on operational issues. To monitor the efficient use of communications services and to address the nature of any misuse of the Authority's resources. To assist with ICT Cabling design and maintenance. Liaise with ICT staff for the installation and provision of ICT hardware systems and communications software. To liase with the Configuration & Change Officer to maintain the integrity of the CMDB, maintaining asset management records of all ICT equipment in the Authority including new procurement, recording of moves and changes and disposal assets equipment in accordance with agreed procedures. To ensure that all logged incidents are consistently acknowledged, prioritised, investigated, owned and resolved to agreed targets as defined in the Service Level Agreement.Essential Knowledge Data/Voice/Video Communications Security Systems Management & Reporting Information Security and controls Telecommunications and data networking Configuration, installation and maintenance of communications systems. Fault finding techniques LAN, WAN, Ethernet networks and TCP/IP protocol and related services. CCNA Routing & Switching CISCO / HP / 3Com Experience with customer, and supplier engagement and communication negotiation skills Experience of supporting & maintaining Communications systems on a variety architecture platforms.
