My client a leading IT solutions provider are seeking to recruit a Technical Consultant and you will bring the below skill set: Technical Consultant at a senior level with specific expertise in designing and supporting custom hosted ERP Solutions for the Government and Healthcare industry. The successful candidate will have a strong background in the sell side i.e. Client facing IT solutions support, with a focus on Highly Available solutions. An awareness of ITIL, and designing for solution Availability Levels encompassing, Networking, Security, Enterprise Storage, Databases and Web Servers in a hosted environment is needed. Experience with Unidata databases will be preferred but not necessary. Working knowledge required on: Citrix, VMware/Virtualisation, AD, Domains, Exchange mail, AV, firewall and VPN should be within your skill set. We don't necessarily supply these for solutions, however we certainly interface with them and thus need to have the skills to QA and support them to enterprise level if needed. We work with Unix/Linux system 30% of the time, and 70% Windows. We would expect that you have industry certificates in one or both i.e. MSC/ MCSE, or equivalent for Solaris, AIX, or Red Hat Linux. The typical amount of commercial IT experience needed for this role would be 5 years as a minimum. Based in Hampton, there is a large responsibility placed on the team you will be working in to support sales colleagues, project managers, product managers, and of course clients, with your technical knowledge. Experience in scripting with PowerShell, Python, Batch or other Unix language would be beneficial. The role will require you to travel to client sites across the whole of the UK. The amount of travel varies considerably but could be up to 30% of the time in any month. This is not a hard and fast rule, but is generally dependant on clients changing needs for data protection, government codes of connections and the delivery pipeline. This role will require Government Security Clearance (SC) and an Enhanced Criminal Record Check. 1.The primary role of a Technical Consultant is the installation of software and the second and third line support of existing database, web and thick client of enterprise systems. Where allocated support calls you will be responsible for working through to resolution within agreed client SLA's. 2.As a Technical Consultant you will assist in all stages of the installation of the software, including, but not limited to: Requirements Analysis Installation Design Installation and configuration of the software Training and User documentation The above activities are all part of a project implementation and you may carry out or assist with one or more of these activities for any number of clients/projects, as well as technical troubleshooting. 3.Installation tasks and projects may be directly for a client or as part of an internal company project, of which you will be called upon to deliver within your role. 4.You will be expected to build on your existing knowledge on the job with custom applications and tools. will provide an overview of our own application software as considered appropriate for you to operate effectively. You will then be expected to become fully conversant with the software as required to carry out your duties effectively. A 'bigger picture' and commercial awareness approach to learning for this role is essential to the success of any installation. You will be expected to supplement your learning as directed, and specifically to keep updated with market and government related initiatives, regulations and general progress/direction. 5.You will be expected to deliver training for clients if a project requires. This typically takes place on the client's premises, or offices. You will be expected to familiarise yourself with training practices, and create or maintain training materials for the courses you are delivering. 6.Testing is part of the software installation. You will be expected to test the installation ensuring that it is fit for purpose with respect to capacity planning for the lifecycle of the solution. This could encompass unit testing and performance load testing, following which you will report and resolve issues when required. 7.You may also be required to input to the Pre-Sales support process, either by developing and/or presenting software demonstrations, at any stage of the sales process, or by preparing responses to specific tender/or other, questions allocated to you. Questions/Demonstrations allocated to you will relate only to areas upon which you have specific experience, or where you are considered the most appropriate person to respond to a question on a future use of the software in your domain.
