About the opportunity:
The purpose of the role is to ensure the design relating to fire engineering is developed in line with NNB requirements and with the project schedule, to allow detailed design and construction to proceed as planned. The role holder will be required to carry out surveillance on fire strategy and system documents, fire zoning reports, fire zoning drawings and other supporting documents. The role holder will need to work independently in managing reviews and holding review meetings with the designers and other stakeholders. The role holder will need to consult with the Fire Topic Lead and Fire Hazards Lead when necessary and keep the Topic Lead informed on significant technical issues. The role holder will support the Topic Lead in interactions with the regulator.

Jacobs is a key partner for Hinkley Point C (HPC) and the Client in the UK. We hold a 10-year framework to provide Professional Consultancy Services to HPC including Engineering, Nuclear Safety and CDM.
Here's What You'll Need: - Degree qualified in a suitable engineering discipline is preferable (other suitable qualifications may be considered)
- Eligible for and working towards chartership.
- Firm grasp UK regulatory requirements applicable to fire safety design and the application of the ALARP principle.
- Ability to carry out review and acceptance of fire system related design documents.
- Ability to make judgements regarding level of risk and whether proposed solutions reduce risks to ALARP.
- Ability to work independently, to plan and manage design reviews and work directly with the designers.
- Growth focused mindset with an aptitude for relationship building and teamwork.
- Knowledge of and experience with passive fire protection equipment and fire protection insurance standards and requirements
- Considerable experience in UK Nuclear industry (ideally 8 years) working as a fire systems engineer or equivalent experience in a highly regulated industry within the UK.
- Knowledge/experience of handover and commissioning of fire protection
