Data Systems Engineer

Bristol

£36,000 - £40,000

We are currently recruiting for an experienced data systems engineer to join a growing data team. The purpose of the role is to enhance the delivery of their data services by developing internal data infrastructure. The role will take an active part in the development of their internal databases and their data visualisation services. As part of the technical team, there will also be opportunities to support directly in client data projects and to develop and deploy automations to support the efficiency of the team in delivering projects (e.g., data collection).

Role Responsibilities:

  • Develop fit-for-purpose data service solutions required to meet their requirements
  • Responsible for data modelling and the data migration process between services
  • Identify options for potential solutions and assess them for both technical and business suitability
  • Responsible for liaising with suppliers on technical system requirements
  • Continually seek ways to improve efficiencies of handling data and advancing the business' data services
  • Manage the day-to-day administration and development of data visualisation services
  • Escalation point for any troubleshooting for data system service issues

Role Requirements:

  • Proven experience working with data and translating it into meaningful insights
  • Effective communication skills; collaborative and able to challenge when needed
  • Experience administering and creating advanced queries in relational database (cloud-based desirable; AWS, Azure, Oracle etc.)
  • Experience programming in SQL.
  • Recent experience building and designing PowerBI reports, DAX and content distribution required
  • Experience implementing process and system efficiencies and automations
  • Good team working skills and comfortable working with and presenting to external clients/partners
  • Strong IT skills across the Microsoft suite of packages (e.g., Excel for data analysis)
  • Ability to work in ad-hoc teams as well as on own
  • Proactive interest in innovative tools/solutions on the market which can enhance our service offering and ability to translate benefits to business requirements
  • Proactive and fast learner, able to take on new (often technical) information quickly
