We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior UX Designer to join our team. We're interested in candidates nationwide as we offer hybrid working, you'll be required to attend the office in Gilwell Park, Chingford twice per month to take part in meetings and workshops. We will offer you a competitive salary of £53,000 - £60,000 per annum.

The Senior UX Designer Role:
As our Senior UX Designer you'll be Leading UX expertise across the organisation, shaping what this looks like and influencing at a senior level. This is an amazing opportunity to help evolve what our volunteer experience looks like over the next 2 years, this is THE biggest piece of transformation work Scouts is undertaking and this role will be a real key part of it. This is a great opportunity to work across all levels of seniority across the organisation.
Key responsibilities as our Senior UX Designer:
- Champion our digital principles, and ensure users are at the centre of all of our work
- Establish frameworks for best practice in UX and design standards and guidelines and lead and inspire others
- Lead as subject matter expert in part of strategic transformation projects or programmes.
- Lead requirements gathering workshops with senior internal and external stakeholders, with the ability to manage challenging stakeholder relationships
- Help colleagues around the organisation to understand more about UX design practices by modelling and coaching others
- Solve problems creatively using innovative idea
- Gather critical information from meetings with various stakeholders and produce useful insight
- Identify areas of improvement within current processes using varied tools and techniques to demonstrate improvements.
- Collaborate and contribute enthusiastically to our team, working alongside delivery managers and product managers and technology experts.
- Mentor and support other members of the team, including line management of the UX designer.
- Use sketching, wireframing and prototyping techniques to map user journeys to create intuitive user interfaces.
- Oversee research and insight projects to further understand our user need and impact.
- Stay abreast of innovations in UX best practices
What we are looking for in our Senior UX Designer:
As our Senior UX Designer you will have great experience working from discovery stage to finished product. You will need to be confident in your proven UX expertise and have the ability to lead, excite and inspire others with what UX is about.
You'll need to be able to communicate clearly, translate ideas and prototype 'just enough' to validate your work to get you to the next stage. You'll need to have skills in designing and delivering user experiences that span multiple touchpoints using Lean/Agile and user-centred design methodologies. As well as this you'll need to be able to show leadership and be able to impart your knowledge and skills to inspire others across our organisation, working with staff and volunteers.
In addition to this our ideal Senior UX Designer will:
- Have excellent knowledge of designing to accessibility standards
- Be proficient in UX tools (such as Sketch, Invision, and Axure)
- HTML and CSS skills would be a bonus
- Have education and industry standard qualifications - an advantage but not a requirement
