BI Developer

Location: HQ is based in Liverpool. This role can be remote.

Our client is looking for a BI Developer for their Data/BI Team. In this role, you will play a key part in developing the businesses intelligence capabilities of the company, designing and developing systems and reports that support the data-driven direction of the company.

You will be a self-starter with initiative and resilience, used to working alone and as part of a team. Fundamentally, you must have a passion for data, and be keen to deliver the tools to move the business forward.

Currently our client is in a transition phase - moving away from legacy systems to modern systems, such as Twilio Flex. Currently data is amalgamated in Power BI and Qlikview from a variety of sources, including SQL databases, sharepoint and marketing platforms. The goal is that they will combine internal and external data into systems that allow self-service BI, to allow stakeholders to ask and answer key business questions. Ultimately, progressive BI will allow all areas of the business to optimise the customer flow and work smarter to deliver revenue in the most efficient way, while ensuring they deliver for clients.

The Responsibilities

• Designing and improving data models in Power BI, and contributing to the design of underlying data models in data storage systems
• Refining Power BI datasets and creating the measures and dimensions to fulfil reporting requirements
• Analysing business requirements and creating reports and dashboards that elegantly and efficiently fulfil these
• Creating the tools to support self-service BI
• Supporting product-led development of systems to create feedback mechanisms to help products succeed
• Creating reports and dashboards to help stakeholders understand business data, and generate actionable insight
• Identifying opportunities for further tech developments within the team and business
• Reporting to the BI Team Leader

The Skills & Experience

• They are looking for someone with strong experience of building Power BI systems from the ground up
• This knowledge and experience will be underpinned by experience with databases and SQL
• Experience of ETL of data from disparate and varied sources will also be beneficial
• Candidates should have worked with stakeholders from tech and business teams to understand data sources and requirements to produce reports and analysis from first principles
• Although the role will be development first, experience of data analysis will help to understand needs, and to support stakeholders take the initial steps on the journey to self-service BI
