FRONT END DEVELOPER, SOFTWARE DEVELOPER

Your new company
Hays Technology are looking for a Front-End Developer, for our large public organisation client based in the Birmingham area. This role is full time, on a 3 month contract initially, remote working and inside IR35.

Your new role
To support the Design Manager in leading the innovative, user centric design function of a cross functional digital delivery team, supervising direct reports to improve skills. Overseeing digital services, systems and processes related to front-end web technologies.

To help set strategic direction and embed good practice within teams, making key decisions based on user research and how this then impacts other functions of the organisation. To lead on front-end web technologies. To work on influencing and embedding best processes of a digital-first approach into the organisation's culture and promoting capabilities.

What we are looking for
Essential:

• HTML5, SCSS, CSS, JavaScript
• Knowledge of Government Design Principles
• Experience working to Agile principles (sprints, backlogs and roles)
• Knowledge of accessibility regulations and assistive technology
• Translating designs and wireframes into high quality code
• Excellent creative problem solving
• Experience in a creative studio or professional environment
• A version control system such as GIT or Bitbucket
• RESTful APIs
• Ability to write good documentation
• Great attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills
• Be a strong driver of change and innovation
• Ability to work with colleagues, partners and stakeholders at all levels
• Strong team player who is also self-motivated

Desirable:

• Knowledge of management theory
• Experience in building web applications in with login authentication
• Experience of working with linting tools such as ESLint/Prettier
• Experience of working with web testing tools
• Developing using a Content Delivery Networks (CDN)
• Using node build processes such as Gulp
• ReactJS or any other JavaScript framework
