Job Description

DevOps Engineer with experience of working with an AWS Cloud-based infrastructure deployment, architecting, estimating costs and solutions and strong technical and analytical skills combined with dependable process compliance, is required for a well-established company based in Manchester, Greater Manchester.

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a DevOps Engineer with experience of working with an AWS Cloud-based infrastructure deployment, architecting, estimating costs and solutions and strong technical and analytical skills combined with dependable process compliance.

As a DevOps Engineer you will be responsible for the design, build and run phases of online software systems deployed on AWS cloud infrastructure for the company's customers.

Working as a DevOps Engineer you will be part of a cross-functional platform development team of developers, product owners and testers delivering new features and enhancements from a prioritised product backlog.

DUTIES

Your duties and responsibilities as a DevOps Engineerwill include:

  • Specification and Development of the AWS cloud server infrastructure for the Company's online platforms
  • Responsible for the implementation of the security and privacy features of the deployed systems
  • Design, deployment and maintenance of continuous integration systems
  • Knowledge sharing through the establishment of proven best practice
  • Ongoing maintenance including patching and upgrading of developer services
  • Provide 24x7 on call cover on a rota basis

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent industrial experience
  • Experience of working with an AWS Cloud-based infrastructure deployment
  • Experience in architecting, estimating costs and solutions built on cloud-based infrastructure
  • Knowledge of infrastructure as code technologies (e.g. Terraform, Packer, Ansible)
  • Experience of working with monitoring tools (e.g. PagerDuty, Nagios)
  • Strong technical and analytical skills combined with dependable process compliance
  • Experience of customer service within an IT support background

Desirable

  • Ideally, you will have Solution Architect certification in AWS or be working towards this
  • Experience of working within a Scrum process
  • Experience working with CI/CD tools and building efficient pipelines (e.g. Jenkins, GitLab, Azure DevOps)
  • Knowledge/understanding of containerized applications (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, AWS Fargate)
  • Experience developing systems compliant to IT compliance and security standards (e.g. ISO27001)
