Job Description

About us

As the Electricity System Operator (ESO) for Great Britain we are in a privileged position. We sit at the heart of the energy system, using our outstanding engineering and commercial expertise to balance electricity supply and demand second by second. Ultimately, we keep the lights on and the electricity flowing directly to where it's needed.

We also play an instrumental part in transforming the energy system so that it can meet the government's net zero carbon emissions target by 2050. We are constantly thinking about the future of energy and constantly working to operate a greener and cleaner system.

The Offshore Coordination Team is at the centre of this exciting journey focusing on the offshore energy (primarily wind) and interconnection; transmission network & connections.

As an Energy Network Charging Analyst, you will play a key role in scoping and driving forward the significant industry change that is required to enable Great Britain's net zero carbon energy future, doing so by building key internal and external relationships with stakeholders and utilising industry knowledge to explore barriers and enablers to allow development and delivery of important industry changes in relation to network charging and offshore coordination.

An important part of this Energy Network Charging Analyst role is to facilitate both the connection of 40GWs of offshore wind by 2030 and the design and delivery of the enduring offshore regime.

About the role

  • You will work within a dynamic team to support and influence the development of workstreams in accordance with the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy's the Offshore Transmission Network Review
  • You will lead on identifying barriers and enablers within your workstream as well as developing recommendations to overcome those barriers in respect of network charging e.g. 'Transmission Network Use of System charges' and 'Balancing Services Use of System charges', Connection Charges, etc
  • To utilise your analytical and problem-solving skills in respect of those barriers and enablers to ensure recommended options are robust and in the interests of consumers, whilst taking all other relevant factors into account in the decision-making process
  • You will provide network charging insights into the other workstreams, both within the ESO and within the wider Offshore Transmission Network Review
  • You will lead on the development and delivery of changes to impacted codes and standards across all workstreams in respect of network charging e.g. 'Transmission Network Use of System charges' and 'Balancing Services Use of System charges', Connection Charges, etc
