We are looking to appoint a Trainee Service Engineer to join a well established and growing team! The role is temporary at present with a view to a permanent offering should you pass the training. Before you read on you must be willing to - in the future: work away from home on a regular basis travel abroad (possibly twice a year) be on call in the evening and weekends (on a rota) Your role will initially be based in the workshop whilst training with some travel to client's sites as part of your development. Your role will be training to: be the 1st line responsive support to distributors and customers globally via the phone, email and face to face provide high quality servicing, repair and refurbishment of customer product deliver and installation of new systems, demos and customer returns (RMA's) prepare and maintain service manuals provide service bulletins when appropriate uploaded onto the customer portal refurbish and upgrade parts to maintain usable stock levels Once trained, you will be given a company van, phone and laptop. Job: Cad/ Design Coordinator Reports to: Design & Technical Manager Location: Surrey Position Overview We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented CAD Technician to join our design team. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing accurate technical drawings and plans for the design and construction of homes, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client specifications. This role requires proficiency in CAD software, an understanding of construction and design principles, and a keen eye for detail. Key Responsibilities Produce detailed 2D drawings for apartments & homes, ensuring precision and adherence to project specifications. Assist in the creation of conceptual designs and turn them into technical drawings. Work closely with the design teams to ensure the designs are feasible and meet building regulations and client expectations. Create and maintain drawing records, updates, and revisions in line with project milestones. Provide technical support and advice to colleagues and clients regarding design and construction requirements. Ensure all CAD drawings comply with the company's quality standards and project timelines. Support the creation of specifications for materials, finishes, and construction methods. Assist in producing layout plans, elevations, sections, and details for construction. Review and interpret architectural plans, ensuring compliance with relevant building codes and regulations. Collaborate with project managers to ensure the project stays on schedule and within budget. Maintain knowledge of the latest developments in CAD technology and design trends. Requirements Proficiency in AutoCAD software (and a knowledge of Revit would be advantageous). Experience in designing or drafting for the construction industry, preferably within the traditional build, modular homes, or similar sectors. Knowledge of building regulations and construction methods. Excellent attention to detail with the ability to work to tight deadlines. Good understanding of architectural drawing standards and industry best practices. Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with team members, clients, and suppliers. Direct the activities of the team to achieve the safe implementation of all facets of Signalling projects to the customers' specifications and agreed project budgets and timescales. Check that the quality of output from the section is to the required standards and that target dates are achieved. What are my responsibilities? Direct the preparation of technical details, signalling plans, estimates and working drawings for signalling works within the project team to meet laid down timescales and authorised budget constraints. Carry out independent checking of Signalling systems as required. Ensure that the technical and safety standards are maintained in all aspects of design work in order that successful project implementation and future reliability is achieved Provide functional support and guidance to the Lead Design Engineer(s) and others within the team on all aspects of Signal Design within allocated projects. Provide support and input to Project Manager and Project Engineers on allocated projects. Forecast manpower requirements for all design work to enable allocation of resources to be made. Identify the required budget provision for allocated projects to enable sufficient financial authority to be gained. Participate in and monitor the planning and progress of works in relation to timeline and budget and ensure that the development, design, construction and testing requirements are met and effect remedial action when required. Maintain a continuous communication with contractors and customers in the development and implementation of projects to ensure a uniformity of purpose and common targets. Evaluate the quality and technical accuracy of tenders and make recommendations to obtain the best available commercial award for the Company. Prepare and deliver briefings to staff on technical, procedural and Handbook publications, including participation in relevant training. Discharge safety responsibilities in relation to CDM Regulations, Health and Safety legislation, Company procedures including development of the project Safety Plan. Focus on individual and team development through the completion of annual performance appraisals, career reviews and through the management of poor performance. Act as Contractors' Responsible Engineer on allocated projects as directed. Perform duties as directed by Management from time to time in connection with Signalling design activities. Carry out testing and commissioning of Signalling systems as instructed by more senior Engineers. Essential: An Engineering Degree or HND/HNC minimum. Member of the IRSE, IET or other recognised Professional body. Ten years' experience in all aspects of the design and implementation of Signalling Systems Engineering with particular emphasis on the preparation and checking of design plans and working details. Practical experience of the operational requirements of railway construction works. Good knowledge of Project Safety requirements. Good commercial awareness and knowledge of contract conditions. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Excellent understanding of task, time and people management. Holder of Personal Track Safety card Hold or be working towards IRSE Design Manager License, Signalling Principles Designer (A, B, D or E.) and Signalling Design Verifier.
