The Candidate The successful candidate will have management responsibility for the Software Development team whilst providing technical leadership across the architecture, design, development and delivery of the core software product portfolio. The Role Reporting to the Senior Software Team Manager, you'll work closely with Engineering Management, Product Management, Supply Chain, Business Development and the PMO. You'll balance people leadership with technical oversight, resource planning and the successful delivery of multiple software development projects whilst championing engineering best practice. Duties Lead and coordinate the Software Development team. Provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary engineering projects. Contribute to the software vision, strategy, architecture and product development. Oversee software project planning, execution and delivery with the PMO. Support technical and commercial proposals for new opportunities. Promote engineering best practice and robust design standards. Mentor, coach and develop engineers. Manage resource planning and technical priorities. Contribute to design reviews and continuous improvement. Requirements Proven Software Team Leadership experience. Strong C++ background with Python experience. Software architecture and technical leadership. Waterfall and Agile methodologies. Git, JIRA and Confluence. New Product Introduction (NPI) experience. Knowledge of Project Management tools and methods. Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills. Demonstrable mentoring and coaching experience. Ability to inspire, motivate and develop engineers. Experience leading multidisciplinary projects through the product lifecycle. Comfortable working on defence related projects. Strong commercial awareness and business acumen.
