Saab is expanding in the UK and we are now seeking talented and highly motivated Systems Engineer to support our radar and sensors growth activities at either our Fareham campus. Much of our current work is centred on the G1X radar, which is the newest radar in Saab's portfolio - a software defined radar with a regular capability update cycle post-delivery, as well as an established production line. As a Systems Engineer you will regularly work with current products, developing enhancements and investigating new areas for product growth. Key Responsibilities: As a System Engineer you will be responsible for various activities across the product lifecycle. Responsibilities include: Support to bid activities Requirements management activities Radar performance analysis Radar algorithm development System and sub-system design Support to customer demonstrations Travel within UK and abroad (including to Gothenburg office) Required Skills: As a person you are positive, social, results oriented and a team player with a background in systems engineering Experience of radar, communications or EW systems in considered essential (5 years minimum) Experience of working with MATLAB, ideally working with recorded radar data Experience of working in a recognised industry standard requirements management tool Familiar with principles of 15288:2023 Familiar with product road mapping and product lifecycle techniques Enjoy working and developing in a team Like cooperating with others but are capable of working individually as well Good technical communication skills Have a Bachelors degree or equivalent During your employment you will handle tasks and materials that are classified as military secret and therefore you must have a UK or Swedish citizenship As a National Security Vetting clearance is required for this role, applicants will be required to hold National Security Vetting clearance to SC level or have the ability to gain it. The IT Solution Architect will be responsible for designing and implementing technology solutions that align with business objectives and technical requirements. This role bridges the gap between business needs and IT capabilities, ensuring that solutions are scalable, secure, and cost-effective. The Solution Architect works closely with stakeholders, developers, and project managers to deliver robust architectures that support organisational goals. Key Responsibilities: Solution Design & Architecture to a high standard. Develop high-level and detailed solution architectures for IT systems and applications. Ensure solutions comply with enterprise architecture standards, security policies, and regulatory requirements. Create architectural diagrams, models, and documentation for proposed solutions. Stakeholder Engagement Collaborate with business analysts, project managers, and technical teams to understand requirements. Present architectural solutions to stakeholders and obtain buy-in. Technology Evaluation Assess emerging technologies and recommend adoption where appropriate. Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for proposed solutions. Governance & Standards Define and enforce architectural principles, guidelines, and best practices. Ensure consistency and integration across systems and platforms. Implementation Support Provide technical leadership during solution implementation. Troubleshoot architectural issues and guide development teams. Perform Risk Management. Identify potential risks in solution design and propose mitigation strategies. Ensure compliance with data protection and cybersecurity standards. Qualifications and Skills: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. 7+ years in IT roles, with at least 3 years in solution architecture. Experience in large-scale system design and implementation. Certifications (Preferred). TOGAF, AWS/Azure Solution Architect, ITIL. Knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman). Proficiency in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid architectures. Experience with APIs, microservices, and integration patterns. Understanding of networking, security, and infrastructure principles. Analytical & Problem-Solving. Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions. Strong analytical skills for evaluating complex systems. Communication & Leadership. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to influence and negotiate with stakeholders at all levels. Self-motivated, resilient and able to work under pressure. The Role You will be part of Public Safety Solutions (PSS), which develops advanced software applications and solutions for mission critical control room operations including for Police, Fire & Rescue and Airports. As a Systems Engineer you will provide technical support to customers, projects and development teams. Working with engineers based in both the UK and Sweden, to maintain and update SAFE and its related integrated systems and services. You will gain a comprehensive knowledge of the SAFE operating environment, configuration and core functionality, as well as deep expertise in system components and integrations. This is a fully remote position with the option of working from the Hull office. Occasional travel will be required to our customer sites. Key responsibilities Deploy, maintain and support SAFE operating environments for customers. Provide 2nd and 3rd line support to customers as part of service operations team. Maintaining on-premise and Cloud infrastructure, server builds, configurations and patching. Planning, testing and documentation of installations and changes. Advising projects and customers with technical matters and system troubleshooting relating to infrastructure, applications and environments. Be part of an on call weekly rotation shared across the Support and Operations teams. Experience/Qualifications Essential requirements Demonstrable knowledge and experience in 3 or more of the following: Microsoft Windows Server Microsoft SQL Server Networking (Load balancing, Firewalls, TCP/IP) Linux (Debian or RHEL) Telephony/UC (SIP, ACD, VOIP) Active Directory (ADFS, domain management, users/groups, policies, certificates etc.) Infrastructure management and maintenance (COTS hardware & Virtualisation - VMware, Hyper-V) Good knowledge and experience of ITIL Experience of managing high availability environments and systems or with similar critical infrastructure delivery experience. Highly attentive with the ability to deal with changing priorities and context switching. A positive attitude to innovation, change and transformation are essential characteristics to be successful in this role. Excellent communication skills - written and verbal. Desirable, but not essential Familiarity with Agile methodologies, tools and ways of working. Experience and knowledge of CI/CD tools. Experience in scripting/coding (Python, C#, PowerShell). Experience of common automation tools (Terraform, Ansible). Experience with monitoring solutions (Nagios, Zabbix, NetCool, Icinga, Elastic). Previous experience of working in a DevOps environment.
