PLC Software Engineer - Dungannon - £50-60K We are looking for a proactive and detail oriented PLC Software Engineer to join our engineering team. In this role, you will design and implement control software for bespoke industrial systems, driving performance, reliability and innovation across out automation platforms Reporting to the Electrical Engineering Manager you'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate PLCs into complex control architectures, including Telematics and HMI interfaces. You'll take ownership of system programming, testing, and optimization-ensuring our Ground Support Equipment (GSE) meets the highest standards of safety and efficiency. Duties: Design, program, configure and implement software in PLC systems to automate industrial systems to meet operational needs. Debug, test, and validate control logic to ensure performance standards are achieved. Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineers to integrate PLCs into broader control system architecture, including Telematics and HMI interfaces. Analyse and optimize existing control logic to improve efficiency, accuracy, and system reliability. Troubleshoot system malfunctions, identifying and implementing corrective actions to minimize downtime. Manage system backups, maintain version control, and implement safety interlocks to safeguard against system failures. Create comprehensive documentation, including wiring diagrams, ladder logic, and I/O configurations, to support ongoing system management and troubleshooting in accordance with global safety standards in electronics system design. Maintains product and company reputation by complying with regulations. Use vehicle interface tools such as Vector CANalyzer, CANfox, etc. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Any other duties as required by the Line Manager to suit business needs. Adherence to our ISO 9001 Quality management system. Adherence to company health and safety procedures. Criteria: Degree qualified in electronic engineering, software engineering or related discipline - or equivalent experience. A minimum of 5 years' experience within Tier 1 or OEM sectors (on highway or off highway) within system engineering or software development. Ability to design and implement complex control architectures involving multiple PLCs, sensors, and actuators. Knowledge of industry standards, such as IEC 61131-3, for PLC programming. Experience in software programming with CODESYS Experience with real-time system debugging, control loop tuning, and signal processing. Ability to adhere to company processes relating to internal and external procedures and sign-off requirements. Strong desire to learn from working on differing system architectures and coding techniques. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills Ability to work well independently and in a team.
