Service Express is hiring: IBMi Administrator Are you a talented professional with a passion for IBMi systems? Service Express is looking for an experienced IBMi Administrator to join our team. In this role, you'll provide expert-level support to our customers and internal teams, helping deliver outstanding service across our software and support contracts. You'll be a key technical resource for OS400/AS400 systems and virtualisation technologies, supporting both our Sales and Services teams. Here's what this position is all about: Take ownership of 2nd and 3rd level OS400 technical support issues, driving them to resolution. Lead customer transition activities, following defined processes to ensure smooth delivery. Attend customer meetings and present OS400 technical solutions aligned with contracted services. Design high-level technical solutions and support the Client Services Team in their delivery. Provide expert assistance to customers and internal teams on OS400 and virtualisation technologies. Support pre- and post-sales activities related to OS400 services. Deliver professional services for iSeries systems as needed. Stay current with OS400 updates and emerging technologies. Participate in Disaster Recovery testing and full invocations when required. Resolve support calls and attend customer sites as necessary. Ensure best practices and compliance with internal protocols, including security and regulatory standards. Consult on High Availability solutions and configure Quick/EDD & Mimix applications. Follow change control processes for all customer system modifications. Support pre-sales engagements with strong OS400 technical demonstrations. Share OS400 knowledge across the team to build collective expertise. Train operational staff and assist with OS400-related queries. Undertake agreed training to maintain up-to-date platform knowledge. Automate iSeries systems using Systems Management software. Attend seminars and presentations to enhance daily operations and efficiency. Collaborate with Service Delivery Managers to provide technical insights to customers. Participate in a 24/7 on-call support rota for contracted services and software support. What we are hoping you can bring to the Service Express team Proven experience with OS400 (V5R3 through V7R4). Strong knowledge of High Availability tools (Mimix, iCluster, Quick/EDD). Experience with Systems Management software and iSeries automation. Familiarity with Power Systems hardware and SAN integration. Deep understanding of VTL technologies. Capacity planning and performance analysis skills (iDoctor DBMON desirable). Advanced CL programming and SQL skills. High-level security expertise on IBMi. Strong knowledge of LPAR, HMC, and system builds using native OS commands and BRMS. Experience with OS400 backup software including BRMS. Skilled in troubleshooting, OS upgrades, and PTF management. Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities. Ability to transform and automate repetitive tasks. Strong communication skills, both internally and externally. Confident in customer-facing roles and technical presentations. A collaborative mindset and willingness to support team members.
