The role The Infrastructure and Technical Operations function is responsible for the development and support of infrastructure, client environment, collaboration technologies and telephony for Schroders Personal Wealth. Key to our success is our new modern digital workplace proposition and we are looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer with experience to assist with its development. What you'll be doing Our engineers are hands on and working as part of a small engineering team developing and implementing the components that will make up the overall proposition. Undertaking and in some cases leading activities to transform business requirements and specifications into capabilities and exploring infrastructure delivery options, developing design ideas as you go. Interacting with both business colleagues and external suppliers to develop and support infrastructure solutions across the organisation. Developing solutions to time and quality standards against the requirements of the business. Participating in cross organisational squads to develop capabilities and gain advocacy for your solutions through building effective working relationships. Discussing solutions with business customers, technical subject matter experts and vendors, to agree, develop and deliver solutions in a truly collaborative set up. Your qualifications & experience Whilst skills, knowledge and prior experience are meaningful to us we want people who are highly motivated with an inquisitive approach to work and a willingness to challenge the status quo. We're also a people business and to support these huge technical endeavours you'll need to use a range of interpersonal skills and take a collaborative approach. Experience of participating in cross disciplined technical teams. Experience of working with 3rd party technical suppliers and co-ordinating development and support activities with their technical teams. Strong stakeholder management with the ability to advocate change and influence technical direction. The ability to self-start and organise personal workload. We will be looking for technical experience in any of the following: Collaboration & Unified Comms (Voice, Video, SharePoint, Email) MS365 Product Suite (Previously Office 365 - Including but not limited to MS Teams, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business) Device, Application & Data Management (Intune, Windows 10 Management) Office Engineering (Telemetry, Add On management & governance) MS365 Security Tooling Azure Active Directory Networking technologies including WAN, LAN and WiFi Process Automation, scripting / coding (Including but not limited to PowerShell, Power Platform, GraphAPI, JSON) Jira and Confluence toolsets You belong here At Schroders Personal Wealth, we welcome all. As a Software Engineer within our Digital team, you'll report jointly into our Architecture and Engineering team and our Client and Advisor Technology team, in a "guilds and gangs" setup. You'll be responsible for implementing and testing components of our digital client experience platform, and driving forwards our goal of fully automated, cloud-native software delivery that allows us to deliver with speed and true agility. You'll have worked on modern, scalable and resilient software projects, ideally Internet-facing, and will have a sound understanding of what "good" looks like in an engineering team. We believe in an open and collaborative working environment, and we want you to draw upon your experience to establish this culture within engineering, whilst ensuring we don't skip over our regulatory obligations around process controls. What you'll be doing... You have experience working with TypeScript, Node.js and React.js, ideally coupled with a headless CMS such as Contentful and with a containerised back end environment using Kubernetes. You understand what it takes to design and develop APIs. You are familiar with distributed version control systems like Git, and can describe the branching strategies you have used on previous and current projects. You can give examples of what you consider to be good practices in software engineering, and how you have tried to implement those practices in previous roles. You are happy working in an Agile delivery environment, interacting directly with other team members and stakeholders on a daily basis. You appreciate both the importance of development and testing for "non-functional" requirements and, hopefully, why that phrase is in inverted commas! Your qualities...
