Positive Employment is currently recruiting for a Network Engineer for our client a government organisation in Somerset, England. The successful post holder will be responsible for providing expert guidance and product ownership for a technology capability. Conducting research and analysis, supporting projects, and ensuring the highest standards of quality, security, and compliance within their domain of expertise or technology. This role is a temporary contract initially for 6 months with the possibility to extend. This role is 4 days working at home and 1 day in the office a week. Duties and Responsibilities but not limited to: Acting in a leadership capacity for a small team, backfilling the permanent member of staff while they and aligned resources are involved in the deployment of new network and firewall infrastructure across the core, county hall, site. Provide expert knowledge, product ownership and guidance in the specific domain of technology. Conduct thorough research and analysis to support technological advancements. Lead specialist projects by offering technical expertise and insights. Escalation point for technical support to ensure smooth operation of ICT systems. Develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance ICT operations. Ensure quality assurance by maintaining high standards of technology use. Perform risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies. Evaluate vendors to ensure the best technological solutions are chosen. Maintain comprehensive documentation of all technical processes and decisions. Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices. Manage tasks of team members across the Digital Services Department using matrix management. Innovation and Transformation - leading initiatives to Optimise deployment and adoption of technology domain across the organisation to drive improved efficiency Be around team management; ad-hoc escalations, daily workload prioritisation and delivery management, supplier and stakeholder engagement and BAU contract renewals across support and maintenance contracts and associated services. Leading the networking, firewall and telephony team day to day, doing prioritisation of BAU workload, line management, ad-hoc escalations etc. Create, monitor, and review frameworks of performance measures and quality standards to be applied in the delivery of services. Function as an ambassador for the organisation promoting, both internally and externally, the organisation's vision, strategic aims, and values. Ensure flexibility in reacting to the needs of the organisation, its' customers and partners supporting a culture of continuous improvement. Support Corporate and Directorate and service specific transformational change programmes with the aim of maximising efficiency, modernising services, and achieving better outcomes and opportunities for service users and customers. Ensure that Digital services place a high value on customer responsiveness by demonstrating a commitment to meeting and involving the broadest range of direct and indirect service users, citizens, customers, communities, and businesses. Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, the organisation's standards of conduct, organisational policy, and professional codes of conduct to uphold standards of best practise. Personal Requirements: Experience of ICT Transformation and Maintenance projects, as a member of a design authority or as the Technology owner/workstream Lead. Proficiency in developing policies and procedures. Data engineering, data flow and data science awareness. Understanding of Information Governance policy, specialising in data protection & data privacy. Understanding of cyber security principles. Working Hours: 37hrs / Monday - Friday / 1 day Office Pay: £350 per day Please note this role is within the scope of IR35.

The successful post holder will display strong system integration capabilities to ensure that data flows between systems are aligned, reliable, and continuously improved. Responsibilities will include implementing platform enhancements, managing operational processes, and delivering system and database customisations-covering SQL Server, QTC/Unit4 environments, and system-to-system migration assessments. The post ensures that data remains trusted, secure, well-structured, and readily available to support analytics, reporting, and digital services. This role is a temporary contract initially for 3 months with the possibility to extend. This role is hybrid working with 2 days per week in the office required. Duties and Responsibilities but not limited to: Build and maintain batch and streaming data pipelines Implement reliability practices (observability, SLAs/SLOs, testing, data contracts). Optimise storage and compute performance. Deploy pipelines using CI/CD and IaC. Deliver curated datasets and semantic layers for BI, analytics, and ML. Support ML feature engineering and model delivery. Define scalable data architecture patterns and integration designs (ingestion, storage, transformation, analytics). Develop and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models. Ensure secure, efficient, and compliant dataflows across SaaS, cloud, and on-prem systems. Embed data governance foundations (quality, lineage, cataloguing, metadata, retention. Identify and manage data-related risks, ensuring privacy-by-design and regulatory compliance. Establish access controls, classification rules, and protective security measures. Provide architectural guidance and review for pipelines, APIs, and system-to-system integrations. Assess and recommend platforms, tools, and technologies that support scalability and strategic needs. Personal Requirements: 3-5+ years' experience with Microsoft SQL Server (2016+) and SSIS in production environments. Strong SQL Server engineering: advanced T-SQL, indexing, performance tuning, execution plans, statistics, partitioning, tempdb optimisation. Proven experience with ETL/ELT development and design patterns (incremental loads, CDC, SCD, error handling, idempotency). Strong data modelling skills (Kimball, dimensional, relational). Data Engineer JD Word . Proficiency with SQL Server Agent, SSIS logging, SSISDB deployment, and orchestration workflows Knowledge of data governance, metadata, cataloguing, and lineage principles. Experience with cloud data services (Azure SQL/Managed Instance, Azure Data Factory/Synapse Pipelines, modernising SSIS workloads to ADF/SSIS IR). (Desirable). Automation and scripting skills (PowerShell or Python). Experience supporting Power BI, semantic models, or SSAS Tabular (Desirable). Positive Employment is currently recruiting for a Senior Application Support Officer for our client a government organisation in Bristol. The successful post holder will support a specific project work for our Revenues and Benefits department. The Senior Application Support Officer is responsible for day to day supervision and management of an identified area of the Application Support Team. The team are responsible for managing the day to day running of the organisation's IT applications, this includes a helpdesk function; system upgrades; access, event and request fulfilment processes, and for ensuring all other associated tasks are carried out effectively and timely. Ensuring effective management of IT incidents/requests and their resolution, providing appropriate and timely updates minimising impact to customers and stakeholders Must have extensive knowledge of NEC EDM (previously call document management). Must have experience in NEC Revs and Bens Applications in particular the Back End administration function in order to support the implementation of new modules. This role is a temporary contract initially for 16 weeks with the possibility to extend. This role is a hybrid role - Must attend site on first day for induction and to collect IT equipment and then by agreement. Duties and Responsibilities but not limited to: Manage the development, implementation, maintenance and improvement of Application Support policies, processes, procedures and standards. Manage the implementation of service improvement working in partnership with internal/external stakeholders. Provide and monitor an effective Application Support Function. Manage the day-to-day activities, ensuring service levels are maintained and continually improved. Lead/oversee co-ordination of system upgrades. Ensure escalation of issues to system providers or Application Support Leader as appropriate. Must be able to demonstrate previous experience of leading on implementation of modules including planning and scoping of work involved, liaising with business users, setting up Back End parameters, managing and undertaking testing.
