The Mathematical Institute, University of Oxford is looking for an experienced Senior Systems Administrator to join its friendly, dynamic and well established team, responsible for providing IT support for over 1,000 desktop users and a further 1,000 roving users within the department. Reporting to the Head of IT, your responsibilities will include providing day-to-day user support and maintaining excellent levels of service delivery, whilst also progressing longer-term projects and proactively contributing to the creation and evolution of departmental IT strategy. As a senior member of an IT team of seven, you will be expected to assist team members in developing existing skills, and to take the technical lead, where appropriate, on complex projects and system developments. The IT team are responsible for collectively supporting system security, upgrades and development, as well as providing general IT support in person and via an email support request tracking system. This is a permanent position. Although advertised at Grade 8, the department would be willing to consider candidates at Grade 7 (£32,817 - £40,322 p.a.) with potential but less experience who are seeking a development opportunity, for whom the responsibilities would be adjusted accordingly.
