Location & Remote Policy This role can be fully remote in the UK and EU, within +/- 2 hours of GMT. Candidates located outside these time zones are not considered at this stage. What you will be doing Create automated tests using Cypress.io and backend testing tools for API and ETL. Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and promote knowledge sharing. Contribute to and enhance the existing test automation framework. Conduct POCs to expand non functional testing frameworks. Deploy tickets to test environments and production using BitBucket pipelines. Work alongside data engineers, developers, and DevOps to improve data deployment processes. Influence and help shape the roadmap for SDET. Coach junior team members. Champion and embed shift left testing practices within the Data team, defining test scope during refinement sessions and ensuring testable acceptance criteria. Contribute to and evolve Semble's shift left testing strategy, building quality into the upstream development cycle. What we are looking for 5+ years of professional experience as an SDET or Test Automation Engineer. Commercial experience with JavaScript/TypeScript automation frameworks (Cypress is a plus), focusing on backend and API testing. Commercial experience with Python automation frameworks (pytest, pytest mock); PySpark experience is a plus. Proven experience building automation frameworks from scratch. Familiarity with automating E2E tests using POM and BDD syntax. Experience with API testing using an automation framework. Experience with performance testing tools (Artillery or K6 is a plus). Knowledge of non functional testing. Exposure to DevOps tools such as Jenkins, BitBucket, DataDog, and AWS cloud infrastructure (S3, Delta, Databricks). Strong advocacy for test automation and continual improvement of the automated testing framework. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of representing SDETs and defending quality in the release process. Experience driving shift left testing culture in engineering teams, coaching developers to write tests, and integrating quality conversations early in the development lifecycle. Experience with AI testing, including familiarity with evaluation strategies. French language ability is a welcome bonus but not required.
