This is a fully backend-focused position, dedicated to rebuilding a core platform with scalability, performance and clean architecture at its heart. You'll work closely with the Head of Engineering and be trusted to take ownership, contribute ideas and help shape how the platform is built from day one. This is a key hire for the business which will help them progress as an organisation. What You'll Be Doing Designing and building backend services for a new platform Developing serverless solutions using AWS (Lambda, DynamoDB, etc.) Implementing and maintaining Infrastructure as Code using Terraform Working with architects to ensure best-practice system design Ensuring services are scalable, secure and production-ready Collaborating closely with engineering leadership on how the platform fits together end-to-end Taking ownership and proactively contributing ideas and improvements Tech Stack & Experience Required Essential: Strong experience with AWS, particularly serverless architectures Hands-on experience with AWS Lambda and DynamoDB Proven use of Terraform (or strong IaC experience) Solid backend engineering experience Strong understanding of databases and data modelling Ability to work independently and pick things up quickly Nice to Have: Experience rebuilding or modernising legacy systems Exposure to DevOps practices and cloud architecture decisions

This is the first dedicated QA hire, offering a genuine opportunity to design, implement and lead how QA is done from the ground up in a small business. Right now, quality is a shared responsibility across engineering and product, which has allowed the team to move in an agile way. The next step is bringing in a dedicated QA Lead to introduce structure, consistency and scalable practices - giving you a genuine opportunity to shape how quality is embedded across the business. What You'll Be Doing Owning QA end-to-end across product and project delivery Defining and implementing QA processes and standards Balancing QA efforts between: Core product development Ad hoc / consultancy-style project work Writing and maintaining clear test scripts and test cases Performing manual and regression testing Introducing and implementing automated testing where appropriate Working closely with developers, product and operations to embed quality into delivery Identifying gaps, risks and opportunities for improvement in existing workflows Experience & Skills Required Essential: Proven experience in a QA or QA Lead role Strong manual testing background Experience writing test scripts and executing regression testing Comfortable working without existing QA frameworks or standards Ability to take ownership and make decisions in ambiguous environments
