Business Intelligence Architect Day Rate: £500 per day Contract: Temporary - until 31 March 2026 Location: Suffolk - Hybrid (2 days per week onsite) We are working with a public sector organisation in Suffolk seeking an experienced Power BI Architect for a high?impact, delivery?focused contract. This role suits a contractor who can take ownership quickly, shape a solution with minimal onboarding, and deliver at pace. You will lead the full design and build of a new Inclusion Tool in Power BI-from data architecture and modelling through to dashboard design, documentation, and handover to internal teams. The Role As the Power BI Architect, you will: Lead the technical delivery of a strategic Power BI reporting solution. Design a scalable data and semantic architecture. Identify and validate data sources alongside analysts and data owners. Build performance?optimised models, DAX measures, and high?quality dashboards. Deliver a rapid, iterative build within a fixed timeframe. Produce full documentation and handover materials for the Intelligence Hub team. This is a hands?on role ideal for an experienced contractor who can hit the ground running. Key Responsibilities Solution Architecture Build a robust Power BI semantic model using star schema principles. Define dataflows, refresh strategies, and long?term architectural considerations. Data Integration Map authoritative data sources and resolve gaps or inconsistencies. Conduct profiling and validation to ensure trusted KPIs. Document data lineage and assumptions. Power BI Development Develop optimised models and reusable, well?structured DAX. Implement appropriate data security. Create clean, accessible dashboards with clear user journeys. Delivery & Stakeholder Engagement Manage a short, fixed delivery cycle including scope, iterations, and reviews. Turn business requirements into technical solutions independently. Work confidently with both technical and non?technical stakeholders. Testing, Documentation & Handover Support UAT and KPI validation. Produce clear, practical technical documentation. Deliver a smooth, confident handover to the internal team. Essential Experience Strong experience as a Power BI Architect or Senior Power BI Developer. Expert knowledge of Power BI Desktop & Service, DAX, and dimensional modelling. Proficient SQL and relational database skills. Evidence of delivering enterprise?grade BI solutions end?to?end. Comfortable with short?term, delivery?focused contracts. Strong communicator and autonomous worker. Desirable Experience Public sector, education, or social care analytics. Inclusion, SEND or needs?based datasets. Power BI governance frameworks. Microsoft Fabric or Azure BI tools (nice to have). Success Criteria A live, fully functioning Inclusion Tool in Power BI. Trusted, well?defined KPIs. A maintainable, scalable semantic model. Full documentation and confident internal ownership.

The key role of the IT Project Manager in the IT Service (within the Corporate Services Directorate) is to manage and lead relevant project work within Suffolk County Council and across the Suffolk System. This role plans and project manages information, business and technical projects, including requirements analysis thus enabling the delivery of the Council's corporate change and IT transformation portfolio and is a proactive member of the IT Team. What you'll be expected to deliver To succesfully implement projects including the forward planning, communication and governance of said projects To manage projects across the Council including the financial, people, process, IT & business requirement implications To support, with guidance, the development of benefits realisation cases that enable the tracking of progress of benefits realisation To prepare and present cost-benefit analysis to support business case development and the implementation of projects To ensure there is clarity in resource assignment and forecasting, and ensure that associated project resources are fulfilling their requirements in a timely manner; initiating corrective actions where necessary To ensure there is clarity in requirement by working in conjunction with stakeholders to ensure these are understood and appropriately documented To ensure effective governance and meeting structures are in place for their respective projects, to maintain excellent cross-council working relationships To work closely with project stakeholders across the organisation and, where necessary, the wider suffolk system to bring about delivery of the project products To champion and actively progress day-to-day activities for assigned projects To ensure cross-team working and good levels of effective communication To ensure that all Project Stakeholders are up to date with project plans to inform their work on a continuous basis. To take on other activities as required from time to time To direct and motivate the project team, planning and monitoring projects and producing all associated project documentation, including any project change control, whilst managing project risks including the development of suitable contingency plans. Identify and obtain any support and advice required for the management, planning and control of projects including the agreement of technical and quality strategies with the relevant design and compliance authorities To ensure liaison with the relevant services to successfully transfer project products to the relevant service team. To ensure that all project products are aligned with the need of the IT Service team What you'll bring to the team Qualifications and Professional memberships Educated to a higher qualification level (ideally Degree level) or an equivalent level of expertise Evidence of continued personal and professional development, specifically in Project Management and/or Business Analysis Methodologies. Specialist knowledge, skills and experience Good knowledge of project management and business analysis methodologies Knowledge to lead projects in a corporate and IT service environment Able to present information clearly, concisely, accurately to promote understanding Interpersonal skills generating engagement at all levels across the organisation Skills to generate relationships with confidence, respect, credibility and trust Ability to direct resources, control costs and effectively manage budgets Can demonstrate reasonable political judgement and sensitivity Demonstrable expertise for the General Role Expectations and What you'll deliver sections of the JPP Successful track record of working in a transformation environment Experience of working with information management and technology services Leadership of small to medium scale projects with financial and service benefits Managing and motivating associated project resources to deliver to their full potential Ability to anticipate and manage change and achieve results through excellent judgement
