Responsibilities and duties of the Electrical Automation and Programming Technician role Reporting to the Group Leader you will: Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve remote SCADA/PLC issues across various automation platforms (Siemens, Rockwell, WinCC, TIA Portal, etc.) Provide real-time technical support to commissioning and field service teams during startup and maintenance Configure and maintain industrial networks, remote access tools, and system alarms Support retrofit projects and ensure compatibility of updated automation components Develop, optimize, and test PLC, SCADA, HMI, and telemetry programs (e.g., Siemens S7, WinCC, C/C++, Python, Linux) Assist in commissioning of new systems remotely or in collaboration with field technicians Collaborate cross-functionally with field service, engineering, and sales for technical proposals and system design Create and maintain user manuals, programming standards, and operating procedures Document interventions, updates, and remote diagnostics using ERP/service management systems (e.g., IFS, SAP) Conduct risk assessments related to automation systems and proposed preventive actions Other duties as required Professional qualifications We are looking for someone with the following: Bachelor's degree or diploma in Automation, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related fields Full UK Driving Licence Personal skills The Electrical Automation and Programming Technician role would suit someone who has: Minimum 5+ years in automation programming, SCADA/PLC development, and remote technical support. Proficiency in Siemens (Simatic S7, TIA Portal), Rockwell, WinCC, C, C++, Python, Linux, HMI, and Visu. Happy to travel UK wide and also overseas Experience with remote troubleshooting, networking, and cybersecurity for industrial automation systems.
