Job Title: Test Engineer - Hardware Build Location: Chippenham Contract Type: Long-Term Ongoing Contract Pay Rate: Negotiable - Dependent on Experience Start Date: ASAP (following successful interview)Pertemps are recruiting on behalf of an internationally renowned engineering organisation for a Test Engineer - Hardware Build to join their Test Engineering team in Chippenham. This role would suit an experienced Test Engineer with a strong hardware build background, or a highly experienced Wireperson / Assembly Technician looking to progress further into Test Engineering. You will play a key role in the build, commissioning, and support of automated and manual test equipment used both internally and by external customers and service providers. Role Overview: The Hardware Test Development Engineer will work closely with the Test Engineering department to build, commission, and maintain bespoke test equipment. The role combines hands-on hardware assembly and technical problem-solving. Key Responsibilities: Work collaboratively with Test Development Engineers to select and design hardware solutions that meet test requirements Build, test, commission, and maintain automated and manual test equipment Source suitable components, materials, and equipment Translate product specifications into power distribution layouts, safety circuits, and protective enclosures Carry out mechanical and electrical assembly of test rigs and equipment Interpret equipment specifications and generate channel lists Liaise with external suppliers, service providers, and test facilities Engage with internal departments and customers as required Apply knowledge of IEC electrical safety standards, including high-voltage applications Provide regular progress updates to project teams and the Engineering Manager Undertake additional tasks as requested by the Engineering Manager About You: Minimum 3 years' experience in testing or development (5+ years preferred) Strong hands-on hardware build experience (electrical and mechanical) Ability to work independently with excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills High attention to detail with a strong commitment to quality Ability to interpret test standards, customer requirements, and internal specifications Experience planning and executing prototype and proof-of-concept builds Comfortable liaising with customers, suppliers, and external facilities Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines Proficient in Microsoft Office applications Desirable: Knowledge of CAD software (preferably SolidWorks) Familiarity with IEC electrical safety standards and safety testing Understanding of IPC manufacturing standards Knowledge of automotive, railway, and BS standards For more information, please click Apply, or contact Pertemps Technical on option 3.

Job Summary Senior Electrical and Software Design Engineer required for permanent, full-time work in bristol This role involves designing advanced electrical control systems for packaging machinery. The position requires expertise in using AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN for schematic design, conducting machinery safety analysis using Sistema, and developing software for automation systems including PLC, HMI, motion control, and safety systems, primarily with Rockwell, Beckhoff, Zenon, Pilz, and Phoenix technologies. 45,000- 58,000 depending on experience Monday to Friday Key Responsibilities Lead electrical design activities for customer-specific projects. Participate in client meetings to advise on electrical system design. Collaborate closely with mechanical and electrical engineers to ensure integrated project development. Contribute innovative solutions and ideas to improve project outcomes. Complete engineering tasks within agreed project timelines and budget targets. Perform safety risk assessments and ensure compliance with CE, NEC, CSA, and UL standards. Support assembly and commissioning processes, both on-site and remotely. Manage project documentation and maintain proper archiving. Stay informed of and implement relevant new technologies. Commission machinery both in-house and at customer sites. Qualifications and Skills Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent. Approximately 10 years of experience in electrical/software engineering, ideally in the packaging or capital equipment industry. Strong knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, Rockwell, Beckhoff, and Zenon software. Understanding of CE, NEC (NFPA 70/79), CSA, and UL standards. Proficient in using Sistema for safety level analysis. Experience with product handling and servo motion technology. Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
