Job Overview Southampton City Council has an exciting opportunity for a Strategic Data Analyst to join the Data & Intelligence team with a focus on Public Health. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering comprehensive and integrated intelligence and data analysis, enabling the Council to make decisions and manage its services based on a strong evidence base and a single version of the truth. The team is responsible for the development, production and presentation of highly complex advanced analysis and modelling, including the provision of public health intelligence, and the delivery statutory strategic assessments such as the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA). Responsibilities The role will be responsible for contributing to the delivery of needs assessments, interactive PowerBI dashboards and other complex analyses for the city, encompassing topics relating to public health. The post is expected to deliver and communicate complex data analysis, combining multiple data sources, research and evidence to identify needs, trends, patterns and behaviours to influence decision making across the city. Qualifications The successful candidate will have a degree or professional qualification in a relevant area and experience of working in an analytical role with a track record of excellent numerical, research and analytical skills. Knowledge of data management and manipulation, information governance and reporting is required. Previous experience of working in Public Health would be an advantage. The candidate should have knowledge of statistical techniques and procedures and of using analytical tools such as Power BI, QGIS, Microsoft Office 365 and other statistical software packages required for data input, analysis and presentation. We have an exciting opportunity for a permanent Full Time role as Highway Infrastructure Manager to join the Highways and Traffic Management Service of Southampton City Council (SCC). About the role The primary duty of this post will be the lead of a new major Electric Vehicle (EV) and highways infrastructure project for the city, manage the principal contractor, and manage the operation of all SCC owned EVI. The post will also represent the highway authority and check that works are completed to specification. Some of your other duties may include: Assist in the management of the highway network and the assets within it like structures, ITS, street furniture, adoptions, MTE and dropped crossings. Manage enquiries with members of the public, Councillors, and Members of Parliament, in regards to highways and EV infrastructure. Support the development of policies and strategies that meet the council's cooperative plans and ambitions. Qualifications The successful candidate will need to be: Highly experienced project manager with focus on the delivery of infrastructure projects, ideally in a highway or related field. Be able to put in place and use programme management systems, including financial reporting processes, databases, project monitoring, and other systems to support the project success and ensure consistent accurate reporting to senior management and stakeholders. Experienced with managing large programmes with complex project management characteristics, effectively and efficiently, on-time and to budget in politically sensitive environments. Strong knowledge of highways work, best practices and specifications of excavations, installation, and reinstatement on the highway. Good understanding of CDM regulations. It would also be desirable if you had: Detailed and current technical knowledge of EV chargers and EV Infrastructure, including implementation and pitfalls. Qualified in EVI management.
