In this Embedded Linux Software Engineer role you'll have responsibility for a range of tasks such as building and maintaining Yocto based Linux distributions; writing and debugging firmware for microcontrollers, bare metal or FreeRTOS; working across the stack from bootloader and kernel drivers down to real time firmware as well as supporting products in the field. What you should bring to this Embedded Linux Software Engineer role: Post-graduate commercial Embedded Software development experience. Hands-on experience with Embedded Linux (Yocto Layers, Kernel Drivers, etc.) Experience with FreeRTOS or another RTOS. C/C++ development for Microcontrollers (ideally STM32/similar Cortex M) Familiarity with debugging tools and reading schematics. Good communication skills with confidence to work closely with customers. Minimum of 2.1 Bachelors Degree in Electronics, computer Science or similar. Embedded Linux Engineer - South Cambridge - Hybrid. An Embedded Engineer with experience working across both Embedded Linux and broader embedded work as well as having a good understanding of electronics principles will provide technical solutions to a range of challenging projects as a key member of a thriving Technical Consultancy. Working closely with customers, you ll have the opportunity to work on Linux-based systems as well as bare-metal, RTOS, device drivers, algorithms and communications protocols. Due to the nature of many projects you must be a British Passport holder. Experience with high level programming language/s such as Python. Broader embedded experience such as RTOS, bare metal systems, Algorithms and communication protocols. Adaptability, an ambition for learning and excellent problem-solving skills. Strong customer facing skills and motivation to work in a Consultancy environment. Of particular interest is experience of open architecture standards such as OpenCPI, STICS and/or SOSA. In this Embedded Linux role you will contribute to the design, build and test of embedded systems across a wide range of applications including robotics, sensing, communications and IoT devices. As part of a multi-disciplinary team you ll support projects from concept through to delivery, working collaboratively with FPGA and electronics teams.
