Our client who are a leading semiconductor product and technology company that are revolutionizing the shape, size and capability of devices in many parts of the consumer electronics, computing, wireless and mobile industry. The requirement for an experienced Senior IT Engineer/ Systems Administrator to support R&D sites across Europe. In this position you will provide expert support to users in a high-tech environment, solving complex issues across infrastructure, systems and services. You will also have the opportunity to get involved in exciting global IT project work, which will include supporting a project for a brand new data centre. Key responsibilities: * Install and maintain servers in our data centres in conjunction with other local IT colleagues * Support Windows servers and clients * Support local and remote users and applications/ software * Support user issues with mobile and fixed telephones * Provide assistance to members of our Europe and US IT team, as required * Provide feedback into the organization’s IT development planning * Supervise local Tier 2 engineers’ day to day activities/ tasks * Define standard operating procedures for daily operations and associated documentation * Be able to work outside normal hours (occasionally) to minimize disruption to users Essential skills & experience: * Proven experience as a Systems Administrator (or equivalent) * Expert in managing VMware vSphere environments and VMware VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure) * Previous experience of managing a medium to large scale Active Directory site (100-1,000 users) * Experience of managing Microsoft group policies * Well experienced in managing Windows systems running Server 2003 R2, 2008, 2012 and later * Demonstrable experience of managing an on-premises Microsoft Exchange infrastructure * Proven experience with Microsoft Deployment Toolkit * Good understanding of network infrastructure * Enthusiastic and customer oriented, with excellent communication skills * Very good problem solving & troubleshooting skills Experience of handling multiple projects: * Able to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines * Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team - a positive working attitude and a committed team player * Proficient in supporting users, both in person and via remote access Desirables: * Experience managing Veeam solutions, such as Veeam Backup and Veeam ONE * Experience with installing, deploying and maintaining storage environments, preferably NetApp, NextGen and Pure * Experience supporting users and applications in a heterogeneous environment * Experience in running servers and services in a heterogeneous environment * Experience supporting Linux systems * Experience supporting Cisco VoIP * Experience mentoring other team members * Microsoft MCSE Certificate * VMware VCP * Cisco CCNA * Red Hat RHCE Start: ASAP Location: West Malling, Kent Hours: Full time Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 If you have not received a response within 3-5 working days, unfortunately your application has been unsuccessful. aspire cambridge ltd is acting as an employment agency for this permanent vacancy
