We currently have multiple shift-based roles available supporting the operation of test facilities across the engineering laboratories department. This is a department where continuous improvement is part of every-day life; your ideas can come to life in supporting new customer tests, with involvement in every step of the testing and development process, directly influencing the delivery of the world's most desirable vehicles such as Range Rover and Defender. You would be involved in running state-of-the-art mechanical and electrical test rigs with roles supporting single component testing, all the way to whole vehicle durability. It's an exciting opportunity to be part of the team who run the facility, working in collaboration with our Technology Development team to support the installation and commissioning of new test rigs. In this role you will support the lead engineer to ensure that physical testing is completed on time, to quality, with the necessary escalation and reporting responsibilities. Experience with testing hydraulics, pneumatics, batteries, or component to whole vehicle durability would be beneficial, as would experience of data analysis and interpretation, but a desire to learn is essential. Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities • Directly support Lead Engineer in preparing test specimens, carrying out testing, de-prep after test and report out of results. • Provide support for day-to-day operational requirements of the test facility. • Ensure test facilities are maintained to high standards through conducting maintenance activities alongside application of appropriate quality tools including TPM schedules and 5S. • Support resolution of issues and the reporting of relevant information and findings. • Support installation and commissioning of new test rigs in conjunction with Technology Development facility installation team. • A good understanding of test rig methodology and test requirements. Provide support for test method development. • Able to collate, manipulate and interpret data supporting its use for informed engineering decisions. • Drive continuous improvement activity with the goal of improving test efficiency and/ or product quality. • Ensure effective performance & skill management for team of direct reports. • Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as requested. • Contribute to a Zero Harm culture through rigorous use of H&S tools including safety audits, audit preparation tools, 8D accident investigation processes, concern and countermeasure action reporting and effective risk management. WHAT YOU'LL NEED Knowledge, Skills and Experience Essential • Evidence based understanding of Design Verification and Testing Process. • Good communication skills with a collaborative approach to customers. • An understanding of physical test laboratory operation. • An understanding of laboratory equipment maintenance and calibration related activity. • A knowledge of employing data acquisition and analysis techniques. • An understanding of Health and Safety requirements. • Computer literate in relevant business software and Microsoft applications. • Good report writing skills. Desirable • Experience supporting or operating test facilities, utilising test and evaluation techniques. • Experience of product development processes and milestone driven delivery. • Evidence of applying lean or quality techniques. • Knowledge of BMS programming/ scripting languages. • Knowledge of lean/ quality strategies. WHAT TO EXPECT As a part of the Motion System Integration team, you will be working within a multi-disciplinary team to contribute to the delivery of software and systems engineering for all vehicle programmes meeting all defined targets on cost, quality and time. The main activity for this role is to be the first point of contact for the Motion Domain for SW integration activities on physical test properties (SLC, DLC, VB etc.) You will be responsible to ensure all Motion SW is flashed OK, and will need to support any issues that arise on these properties to understand route cause to pass to the relevant Motion Team. You will also be responsible to ensure that the correct calibration levels for the development vehicles for Motion, attribute demonstrators and FEU/ GLV's. Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities 1. Leading a cross-functional team to deliver the Chassis Packs in a timely and efficient way, as well as developing and maintaining tuning/ integration plans and schedules for Motion Pack Releases. 2. Supporting software integration tasks on physical properties for Motion, identifying route cause of any issues and ensuing engagement from the relevant Motion Team to support. 3. Support Integration leads with alignment of Motion SW freeze/ release dates with vehicle programmes to map programme and build specific requirements. 4. Work with stakeholders to lead Motion Software Integration compatibility reviews to understand dependency and test plans across the vehicle architecture. 5. Supporting Squads/ Chapters within both the internal team and externally to the wider organisation to deliver against build requirements. 6. Taking snapshots, evaluating data from the connected vehicle data lake, vehicle network and ECU logs, as well as the diagnosis and resolution of electrical system issues. 7. Lead preparation of vehicles (test and / or fleet) with correct software and calibrations (i.e., ADVs FEUs and GLVs) 8. Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested. WHAT YOU NEED Experience of Automotive Chassis Engineering and Vehicle Dynamics gained in an OEM or First Tier supplier environment. Experience at fault finding with Automotive Software and Networks. Excellent team-working, organisation and communication skills able to adapt into a multi -disciplinary environment. Experience with software management on development vehicles, as well as software complexity and compatibility requirement. Candidates must be committed, flexible and able to work under pressure and beyond normal working hours when required. Experience in planning and delivery of complex multi-disciplinary projects in an automotive mechanical or electronics environment using a "Gateway" based process. The Opportunity As a Manufacturing Material Flow/ Logistics Project Engineer, you will be responsible for furthering the logistics strategy for MP&L and to coordinate its application to support JLR programme introductions as well as providing ongoing engineering and operational support and to MP&L operations across the Halewood site. This role will develop and deliver a range of material handling, IT and process improvement solutions as well as coordinate the implementation of strategic and model year projects that drive overall MP&L Efficiency. Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities Contribute to the delivery of the overall Material Planning and Logistics Strategy for new model programs. Identifying, develop and deliver solutions to enable resolutions to specific MP&L business issues. Assist in the further development of the strategy for all material planning, flow and logistics to support international vehicle and local programmes to ensure the strategy is aligned to both the overall company and functional strategies. Use of Bill of Material tools to develop solutions. Liaise with Purchasing and programme functions to ensure logistical factors are fully included in all sourcing decisions. As a Domain Scrum Master, you will play a crucial role in enabling our Propulsion domain leadership team to deliver exceptional results within a Scaled Agile framework. You will collaborate closely with Squad and Group Scrum Masters, ensuring adherence to Agile processes while swiftly removing obstacles and distractions that hinder team progress.
