£50,000 - £65,000Per Year, Salary based on experience. Strong Benefits package and equity., Permanent Posted: 5 days ago Private Employer Description: ? About Us At AUAR (Automated Architecture), we're redefining how the world builds housing. Our mission is bold: make sustainable, high-quality housing universally accessible. We've created an end-to-end, tech-driven approach - from our cloud-based design-to-manufacturing software MasterBuilder to micro, pop-up robotic Micro-Factories that manufacture timber homes. We've proven our impact with early customers and are scaling fast across the UK, EU, and US. Backed by visionary leadership and a robust financial foundation, we're not just building homes -we're building a better future for people and the planet. ? About the Role We're looking for an Senior Robotics Developer to join our multidisciplinary Automation team at AUAR. You'll be helping us build and deploy the AUAR Micro Factory - our intelligent, rapidly deployable "factory-in-a-box" that enables the construction of high-performance, low-carbon homes. Our Micro Factories are already being deployed in multiple continents, and we're scaling fast. In this role, you'll take ownership of robot programming and automation system development using ABB industrial robots and other automation hardware. This work will span the evolution of our systems from internal prototypes to robust, field-tested units. You'll be part of and collaborate deeply with a cross-functional team that includes mechanical, software, electrical, and deployment engineers - working together to refine our factory-in-a-box approach into a globally scalable product. You'll also work closely with other teams in AUAR (particularly Software and Building System teams) to enable a fully integrated design-to-manufacturing workflow across the tech stack. This is a hands-on technical leadership role for someone who is able to lead and mentor other team members. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of robotics simulation, control, and real-world application - and who's motivated by the impact of rapidly deployable industrial automation. Develop, test, and deploy advanced robot applications using ABB RAPID, SDK, and RobotStudio, as well as other relevant languages and frameworks. Own robot programming and simulation workflows for current and future versions of the Micro-Factory cell. Lead development of toolpath logic, tool-change systems, and integration with sensors and safety devices. Define and document robot test plans, calibration routines, and error recovery strategies. Perform physical testing and debugging with our robots and automation hardware. Build workflows specifically targeted at quick deployment and ongoing support (e.g. highly accurate digital twins, incorporating the use of instrumentation and teleoperation). Collaborate closely with mechanical, electrical/controls and software engineers to ensure robot functions are fully integrated with the Micro-Factory's hardware architecture and safety systems. Contribute to the development of end-of-arm tooling and other cell hardware. Mentor junior developers and help standardize best practices as our team and number of Micro-Factory deployments grows. Support onsite installs and field commissioning alongside our deployment team. Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized workshop space. Promote healthy and safe working conditions in our facilities and in the equipment we ship to customers. Ensure manufacturing processes are carried out in an environmentally responsible manner. You have 5-8+ years of experience in industrial robotics, including deep expertise in ABB RAPID, SDK and RobotStudio (essential). You have extensive programming experience using a variety of languages and frameworks (e.g. .NET, C++ and Python). You have extensive experience of robot cell setup, calibration, and safe operation in production environments. You have experience building digital twins and systems for teleoperation and remote support. You have experience performing remote code deployments and software updates in industrial systems. You have a strong understanding of version control systems (Github) and are proficient in professional engineering best practices (code reviews, coding standards, CI/CD, testing).
