35 hours per week • Permanent Remote Scholastic, a leading publisher and distributor of children's and educational books, are seeking an organised and motivated individual to join our IT team as a Junior Developer. This is an exciting opportunity to work with the wider team to deliver business critical functionality, following an Agile process, concentrating on systems integration as we transition from legacy on-prem applications to NetSuite SaaS. You will be required to collaborate with the development team and business stakeholders to identify and implement user stories using Java, Python, Tcl and SQL as appropriate. You will be competent in analysing defects, identifying root causes and appropriate fixes, and will identify and implement code refactoring to benefit future maintenance. You will be able to understand and follow documented processes and will be keen to learn and quickly pick up technical concepts as required for the role. You will have experience with Java, preferably using Spring Boot as well as experience with SQL. Experience with any of Python, Tcl, JavaScript, Apache Camel is advantageous alongside experience with git version control. With the ability to work accurately and to organize and prioritise your own workloads you will be able to adapt to changing deadlines and requirements. With a strong work ethic you will have a passion to succeed and develop within the role.
