Job Advert Cyber Security Engineer - Cyber Innovation Hub School of Computer Science & Informatics College of Physical Sciences and Engineering An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a full time Cyber Security AIEngineer as part of the Cyber Innovation Hub (CIH), a Welsh Government and Cardiff Capital Region (CCR) funded programme that is making the Cardiff Capital Region a centre of cyber businesses. CIH does this through increasing cyber security based start ups in the region, providing a skills programme targeted at continuing professional development in line with local industry needs, and the provision of representative cyber security and AI testbeds. Working as part of a team, the Cyber Security AI Engineer will design, implement and maintain secure systems and AI testbed environments, support the development and validation of innovative security solutions, and contribute technical expertise to CIH projects. The role will involve assessing and mitigating cyber risks, conducting security testing, and ensuring that CIH infrastructure and collaborative projects adhere to best practice security standards. Your work will directly support CIH's mission by strengthening the technical foundations of the programme, enabling safer innovation, and contributing to outcomes that deliver economic benefit for Wales (including training, job creation and new commercial opportunities). You will be responsible for supporting the existing IT/OT team of engineers in developing secure system architectures, implementing robust cyber security controls, and maintaining resilient infrastructure across operational and enterprise environments. Conservation and Heritage Science Assistant - School of History, Archaeology and Religion An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Conservation and Heritage Science Assistant to join the School of History, Archaeology and Religion. This role will contribute to research within the AHRC Research Infrastructure for Conservation and Heritage Science (RICHeS) programme, carrying out supporting work that helps lead to the publishing of high-quality research. You will have had experience of dealing with external suppliers who provide Microsoft Dynamics 365 and SaaS based solutions. You will be comfortable working in a fast-paced academic environment and will be a key member of the wider IT team within which you will be expected to build strong, effective working relationships. You will be expected to develop your expertise in the technologies that you work with and will support the transition of services to operational teams as required. The role will require you to prioritise and manage your workload effectively and respond promptly to new requirements where necessary. The role will provide the right candidate with opportunities to develop new skills and to focus on specialist areas. The role holder will work as part of a professional service delivery team dedicated to the provision of an efficient, effective and quality driven Information Technology service to staff and students within the Corporate, Administrative, Academic Research and Learning and Teaching functions of the University. You will review others' systems designs to ensure selection of appropriate technology, efficient use of resources, and integration of multiple systems and technology. You will contribute to policies for the selection of architecture components. You will evaluate and undertake impact analysis on major design options and assess and manage associated risks. You will ensure that the system design balances functional, service quality and systems management requirements. The specification of user/system interfaces, including validation and error correction procedures, processing rules, access, security and audit controls. You will assess associated risks, and specify recovery routines and contingency procedures. You will assist with the translation of logical designs into physical designs.
