A technology solutions firm in the UK is looking for an SISS Principal Systems Engineer to lead the design and delivery of safety-critical CCTV and video management systems. The role involves technical oversight, managing the engineering lifecycle, and mentoring colleagues. Candidates should have demonstrable experience in complex CCTV designs, experience leading technical teams, and a full UK driving licence. The successful SISS Principal Systems Engineer will lead end-to-end design and delivery of complex, safety and mission critical CCTV and video management systems across transport environments. Ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations, and drive right first time engineering. This is an Agile role that will require flexibility to attend meetings at the office or client sites as needed by the projects. What you'll do: Provide technical oversight and direction on quality-control tests on new CCTV/video management systems and oversee its construction/manufacture, development and deployment. Be the point of contact for technical escalation that needs discipline-specific expertise. Own the engineering lifecycle; from stakeholder requirements and Concept of Operations through HLD/LLD, integration, verification & validation (V&V), testing and commissioning, to handover and as built documentation. Provide technical oversight on creating ideas for new products or services and drawing up plans for a new design. Act as a mentor for colleagues with less experience. Solve complex problems; take a new perspective on existing solutions. Ensure projects are completed on time with the specified budget. Who you are: The successful person may be a CRE or CEM and will have engineering manager skills, and be a specialist CCTV designer with experience delivering SISS projects. If you have specialist in depth experience of complex safety and mission critical SISS, specifically CCTV and video management, who can identify issues, recommend solutions, best practices and solve complex problems, then this could be the next step in your career. SISS Principal Engineer Key Requirements: Demonstrable experience of designing complex CCTV/Video Management systems ideally in a rail environment. Ability to solve complex problems; take a broad perspective to identify solutions. Customer focused and able to deal with internal and external stakeholders. Fully proficient in AutoCAD/MicroStation and other CAD specified software. Fully competent knowledge of the quality standards and processes and regulatory requirements. Have experience of leading or managing technical teams. Full UK Driving Licence. Reporting to the Highways Regional Manager, the Project Engineer will support with the delivery of Highways Technology Opportunities including Traffic Signals, Technology Installations, Technology Renewals, Technology Repairs and Technology Surveys. This role is mainly Field Based and will cover works in the Bedfordshire and surrounding area, along with the flexibility to work both days and nights as required by the contract. Our Field teams are critical in the delivery of our contracts, whether that is delivering or supervising maintenance, installation, cabling or civils works. What you'll do: Undertake site surveys of National Highways technology, develop works information for the Project Manager. Planning works and ensuring work's comply with CDM 2015 Regulations and internal process. Site supervision & management of subcontractors Have excellent customer facing skills for dealing with customers and other stakeholders. Provide technical support to the PM & Bid team to assist in developing quotes Ensure H&S risks and Safe Systems of Work associated with working on NH network are being adhered to. Key Requirements: Previous experience of National Highways (NH) and Traffic Signals maintenance/installation Experience in installing Highways Technology equipment Production/management of RFIs, TQs, Outage requests and site information requests.
