Senior Developer / Engineer / Analyst We're working with a large, well-established UK organisation in the Higher Education sector to recruit a Senior Developer / Analyst to play a key role in the development, enhancement and operational support of their core Virtual Learning Environment. This is a hands-on technical role focused primarily on Moodle, with responsibility for integrations, performance, stability and continuous improvement of the platform and associated digital learning systems. The Role You will: Lead the development, configuration and optimisation of a large-scale Moodle VLE Develop plugins, integrations and enhancements to improve user experience and functionality Support and troubleshoot complex issues, implementing clean, scalable fixes Design and maintain REST-based integrations with internal and third-party systems Contribute to CI/CD, version control and modern development best practices Work closely with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to deliver robust, secure solutions Provide technical guidance within projects and contribute to service improvement initiatives This role combines project delivery, system enhancement and 3rd-line support within a collaborative but highly autonomous environment. Key Experience (not all essential) Strong commercial experience developing and supporting Moodle Moodle plugin development and platform customisation Solid PHP development skills (front-end skills such as JavaScript/CSS beneficial) Experience with REST APIs and system integrations Linux environments and version control best practice Experience working in structured delivery environments (Agile, CI/CD etc.) Experience within Higher Education or large, complex organisations would be advantageous but is not essential.
