Design the Systems Behind Next-Generation Electronic Technology Do you enjoy solving complex engineering challenges and seeing the bigger picture? We're looking for an experienced Electronic Systems Engineer to take ownership of the architecture, integration and system-level design of advanced electronic equipment. This is an opportunity to work on technically challenging projects where your decisions will influence how complex electronic systems are designed, connected, tested and delivered. From concept through to production, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring every subsystem works together seamlessly. What You'll Be Doing Working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, you'll be responsible for transforming high-level requirements into fully integrated electronic system designs. Your responsibilities will include: Defining electronic system architectures and equipment breakdown structures Translating functional requirements into practical hardware solutions Managing interfaces and interconnections between subsystems and external equipment Producing system schematics, wiring diagrams, interface documentation and technical specifications Supporting system integration, validation and acceptance testing Investigating technical issues and carrying out root cause analysis Working closely with electronics, firmware, software, mechanical and manufacturing engineers Ensuring designs comply with safety, EMC and regulatory requirements throughout the development lifecycle What We're Looking For We're keen to hear from engineers with experience in many of the following areas: Degree qualified in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline System-level electronic design and equipment integration Electronic architecture definition and interface management Strong understanding of analogue and digital electronics Creating and interpreting system schematics, wiring diagrams and block diagrams Technical documentation and requirements management Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills Experience using tools such as DOORS, Rhapsody or MATLAB Simulink Desirable experience includes: Power distribution and grounding strategies Communication protocols including CAN, Ethernet, HDLC, SPI, I C and UART EMC and EMI mitigation at system level SPICE simulation tools Experience within highly regulated engineering sectors such as aerospace, defence, automotive, rail or medical devices Why Join? Automation Engineer - Contract Immediate Start Initial 3-month contract, with strong potential to extend to 6 months We are recruiting on behalf of our client, who is looking for experienced Automation Engineers to join a fast-paced, multi-site automation programme across the UK and Europe. You will work alongside the client s in-house engineering and controls teams, supporting PLC code development, implementation, commissioning, testing and continuous improvement across a network of highly automated sites. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on Automation or Controls Engineer to join a high-performing team delivering complex, high-impact projects. Frequent travel across UK will be required. What You ll Be Doing Developing, testing and commissioning PLC code using Siemens TIA Portal Supporting fault-finding and troubleshooting on live automated systems Leading and contributing to process improvement initiatives Integrating and migrating code across Siemens TIA Portal versions Supporting the deployment and commissioning of new automation projects Acting as a key technical point of contact within a skilled team of contractors and permanent engineers What We re Looking For 5+ years experience coding and commissioning in Siemens TIA Strong working knowledge of Siemens TIA Portal (version 16 and above) Experience troubleshooting complex issues across Controls, Fieldbus (Profinet, Profibus, ASi) and IT platforms Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex technical issues to a range of stakeholders Strong project management, organisation and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and teams Good written and verbal English Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision Sound knowledge of machine safety regulations and safe working practices Willingness and ability to travel frequently across the UK.
