IT Support Engineer (2nd/3rd Line) - Hybrid, Birmingham (3 days per week in the office) Are you an experienced IT Support Engineer who thrives on solving complex challenges and driving technical improvement? We're looking for a proactive and collaborative 2nd/3rd Line Engineer to join our client's expanding IT function. In this role, you'll act as a technical authority within IT support operations, providing an escalation point for the internal team while also supporting the delivery of key technology change across the business. You'll work with a wide range of modern technologies across on-premises and cloud environments, including AWS, network and security appliances, backup solutions, and core business systems. You'll partner closely with colleagues and external providers, so excellent communication skills are vital. A strong awareness of information security, risk, and best practice will underpin how you operate. You may also be asked to deputise for the Head of IT Services & Security as needed. What you'll be doing Providing 2nd/3rd line IT support in line with SLAs, covering connectivity issues, system outages, incident response, and critical upgrades Administering network, server, and security technologies, including firewalls, VPNs, and monitoring tools Coordinating and participating in vulnerability testing, security assessments, and remediation activity Implementing and managing cloud and on-premises infrastructure (Azure or AWS, virtualisation, identity, and access management) Operating and testing backup schedules, disaster recovery procedures, and restoration processes Monitoring systems and resolving issues proactively Managing software licensing across the business Delivering technical projects, upgrades, and migrations Overseeing patching, system maintenance, and lifecycle management Creating and maintaining documentation for systems, processes, and configurations Embedding security best practice across IT operations Acting as a technical liaison with external partners and suppliers This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys responsibility, variety, and being at the heart of supporting and improving business-critical technology.
