Salary £45,000 - £60,000 We're looking for a DevOps engineers to join our Which? Technology team on a permanent, full-time basis. Despite the current circumstances we are still actively recruiting for roles. In compliance with UK Government advice relating to COVID-19, this role may initially be remotely based in line with the rest of our workforce and we will supply you with the tools and technologies to enable you to work in this way. During this phase, interviews will likely be conducted over video conferencing technology, e.g. Google Hangouts or similar. Over the next twelve months we will be developing both our commercial and advocacy product offering, trialling new ways of working, driving innovation and enabling the teams we work with, both supporting existing systems and in the provision of new ones. What you'll be doing As a DevOps Engineer, you will work across a number of Which?'s key systems, using modern DevOps techniques across the full infrastructure development lifecycle. This will be utilising mainly CircleCI, Docker, Git, Terraform, Python, Bash and AWS, including EC2, Elastic Beanstalk, RDS, Route53, ElastiCache, API Gateway, Lambda, VPC, Elasticsearch, WAF and CloudFront etc. The application technology stack is also fairly diverse and includes Ruby, Python, PHP, Java, NodeJS, Redis, Postgres and MySQL. We work on a varied selection of projects with numerous teams across the business, using mainly Scrum within the Scaled Agile (SAFe) framework. You will be joining a fun and supportive team, and sharing knowledge and collaboration are core team values. We will expect you to contribute your own ideas and expertise at all stages and hope that you will be able to work with us to shape our DevOps processes and drive improvement. What we'll need from you Although ideally, we are looking for candidates that have prior experience working as a DevOps Engineer we will also consider exceptional candidates that are able to demonstrate a real ambition to progress, and have proven success in a development or operations role that are considering transitioning to their first DevOps role. We ideally want someone who really loves technology and has a real interest in following DevOps trends and new practices. You will definitely need to have prior experience of AWS and Docker and a solid knowledge of Terraform would also be desirable. An in-depth understanding of the HTTP protocol and a background in building high-availability distributed systems with horizontal scalability would also be beneficial.
