Senior Java Developer
We are working with a market-leading management consultancy who specifically require a Senior Java Developer to be based with one of their top government clients.
We are looking for a talented software developer to join their agile team. You'll work alongside other skilled and motivated people, in a culture that promotes openness, participation and ownership. We are specifically looking for a good communicator and team player who is open to learning and at the same time, providing key development expertise.
You would be involved within a digital transformation programme and work on a highly confidential, greenfield project.
For this particular role, we require a Senior Developer who is very experienced in programming with the Java application.
The following skills and experience is required;
- Java 8
- Spring MVC
- Agile
- Spring Boot
- RESTful APIs
- TDD/BDD
- Pair Programming
- Commitment to writing clean code and comprehensive, clear tests understanding of web services (particularly REST), their pitfalls and best practice good knowledge of relational and non-relational databases and ORMs e.g. Hibernate
- Experience with build tools, particularly Gradle
- Commitment to designing scalable, robust, secure, maintainable systems keen to pair program and share knowledge with other team members
For this position, you must also be eligible to go through the SC Clearance process

Responsibilities:
- Drive complex security focused deployments of the product while working side by side with the customers to solve their unique problems across a variety of use cases
- Work with our customers to understand their security posture and requirements
- Support our security deployments, to assist our customers in achieving their Cyber Security strategy
- Collaborate across product and technical teams, to get the right solution delivered and drive innovation gathered from customer input
- Enable customers to solve the next wave of questions on their own
Requirements:
- 3-5 years in development, deployment, or administration of Enterprise Security and/or large commercial SIEMs (HP Arcsight, IBM QRadar, Intel Security Nitro, LogRhythm, Splunk etc)
- 3-5 years of hands on experience with security monitoring tools such as IDP/IDS, FW and AV (Cisco IDS, Snort, Bro, Palo Alto, Checkpoint, Cisco ASA, McAfee, Symantec)
- Experience in the use of network monitoring tools with a strong understanding of network protocols
- Ability to quickly explore, examine and understand complex security problems and how it affects a customer`s business
- Experience with both the Unix and Windows operating systems; the command line interface is your second home
- 2+ years experience with scripting languages (bash), application development (Java, Perl, Python, .NET), databases and analytical tools.
