Database Administrator (PostgreSQL / Oracle) Location: UK-based Remote / Hybrid Occasional travel to Kettering and customer sites About the Role We're working with a growing technology business that develops warehouse management and automation solutions for customers across the logistics sector. As part of an ongoing platform modernisation programme, the organisation is evolving towards a PostgreSQL-led environment while continuing to support a number of Oracle databases. They're looking for a Database Administrator to join the Systems team and play a key role in both day-to-day database operations and longer-term platform improvements. This is a varied role offering a mix of BAU support, performance optimisation, upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure projects. You'll have the opportunity to influence database strategy while working with modern engineering and DevOps practices. Key Responsibilities Administer and support PostgreSQL and Oracle databases, with a primary focus on PostgreSQL Monitor, troubleshoot and optimise database performance Design and maintain high availability, replication, backup and disaster recovery solutions Perform database upgrades, patching and lifecycle management activities Support database migration and platform modernisation initiatives Maintain database security, access controls and compliance standards Investigate and resolve production issues in business-critical environments Work closely with development, infrastructure and support teams to deliver technical improvements Contribute to automation, CI/CD and continuous improvement initiatives Produce and maintain technical documentation and operational procedures About You You'll ideally have: Strong PostgreSQL administration experience Working knowledge of Oracle database support and administration Experience with performance tuning, optimisation and troubleshooting Knowledge of replication, high availability and disaster recovery solutions Strong understanding of backup and recovery processes Linux administration experience Experience supporting production database environments A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills Desirable Experience Oracle to PostgreSQL migration projects AWS and/or Azure database services Infrastructure as Code and automation tools such as Terraform or Ansible DevOps and CI/CD pipelines Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket or similar tooling Broader infrastructure, networking or Linux administration experience What's on Offer Opportunity to join a business investing heavily in its technology platforms A genuine mix of BAU support and project work Involvement in a major database modernisation programme Flexible remote and hybrid working Exposure to cloud, automation and DevOps practices Collaborative technical environment with long-term career growth opportunities Interested?
