Key responsibilities/accountabilities Owning Tesco Service Model processes for Engineer Technology Products (10.3) and input into Plan & Manage Portfolio (10.1) Delivering the strategic vision for Engineering, working with the Programme Directors and Product Owners to build and deliver retail leading technology for Tesco globally. Responsible for overseeing the architecture, design, development and implementation of multiple software products, driving the adoption of sound architectural principles in building solutions that will be easy to maintain, adapt and enhance over time. Provide technical leadership, guidance and management oversight for large teams of engineers involved in technical design, development and running of some of our key systems and data platforms. Deep experience and belief in using modern development methodologies such as agile and dev ops, yet be comfortable and confident in leading the transition from Legacy systems and methods. Salesforce Commerce Cloud (SFCC) Developer - Backend location: Remote Rate: 300 euros/Day We are seeking an experienced Salesforce Commerce Cloud (SFCC) Developer with strong Backend Development expertise to join our digital commerce team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience developing scalable, headless eCommerce solutions using SFCC, PWA Kit, JavaScript, Node.js, and APIs . Strong Back End knowledge is essential, with experience designing and developing integrations, API orchestration, data synchronization, and enterprise commerce services. You will work closely with architects, business analysts, and cross-functional teams to build high-performance, secure, and scalable commerce platforms for enterprise retail environments. Key Responsibilities Develop, customize, and maintain Salesforce Commerce Cloud (SFCC) solutions, including headless and PWA-based storefronts. Design and develop Back End services, APIs, integrations, and business logic supporting commerce applications. Implement headless commerce architecture using SFCC APIs, PWA Kit, and modern Back End technologies. Develop and optimize modules including checkout, search, personalization, order management, API orchestration, and product/catalog services . Translate High-Level Designs (HLDs) and Low-Level Designs (LLDs) into scalable technical solutions. Build and maintain integrations between SFCC and enterprise systems such as PIM, OMS, SAP CRM, payment platforms, and third-party services . Develop and consume REST APIs and support API-led integration and orchestration using MuleSoft or similar integration platforms . Configure, integrate, and optimize Algolia Search , including indexing strategies, search APIs, and fallback mechanisms. Work with JavaScript, Node.js, React/PWA Kit , and other modern web technologies to develop commerce solutions. Develop and maintain SFCC cartridges, Business Manager configurations, controllers, scripts, jobs, and integrations . Implement robust error handling, logging, monitoring, security, and performance optimization across Back End services and commerce applications. Support CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, code quality, and release management . Troubleshoot production issues and provide technical support during staging, go-live, and hypercare phases. Perform performance tuning and contribute to scalability, reliability, and stability improvements. Collaborate with architects and engineering teams on solution governance, code modularization, and technical standards . Support multi-region commerce deployments, CDN strategies, caching, and high-availability architectures . Required Skills & Qualifications Mandatory Strong hands-on experience with Salesforce Commerce Cloud (SFCC) development. Strong Backend Development experience alongside SFCC. Hands-on experience with SFCC PWA Kit and headless commerce architecture . Strong proficiency in JavaScript and Node.js . Experience developing and integrating REST APIs and Back End services . Strong understanding of API integration, orchestration, authentication, error handling, and data synchronization . Experience with MuleSoft or similar API integration/orchestration platforms . Experience with Algolia Search configuration, indexing, APIs, and optimization . Experience integrating SFCC with enterprise platforms such as PIM, OMS, SAP CRM, payment systems, and third-party applications . Experience with SFCC Business Manager and cartridge development . Good understanding of React and PWA development . Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git, cloud deployment, and release processes . Strong understanding of performance, scalability, security, caching, and CDN concepts . Ability to understand and implement HLDs/LLDs and work effectively with solution architects. Preferred Qualifications Experience with large-scale retail/eCommerce platform implementations or migrations . Experience working on enterprise headless commerce platforms . Knowledge of multi-region and multi-site SFCC implementations . Experience with CDN, caching, API gateways, and distributed systems . Experience with event-driven architecture and asynchronous integrations . Salesforce Commerce Cloud certification or related Salesforce certifications. Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments. Ideal Candidate Profile The ideal candidate is not just an SFCC storefront developer . Required Skills and Experience Strong SAP technical background with experience in SAP cloud application implementations. Experience with integration technologies such as APIs, web services, file-based integrations, IDocs, OData, SOAP/REST, and Middleware platforms. Knowledge of SAP BTP Integration Suite or similar enterprise integration platforms. Strong understanding of identity and access topics including SSO, IAS/IPS, authentication, authorisation, role design, and user provisioning. Experience with technical design reviews, interface specifications, test support, cutover planning, and production readiness. Ability to troubleshoot complex issues across integrated SAP cloud landscapes. Experience working with system integrators, vendors, business stakeholders, and internal IT teams. Strong communication, stakeholder management, problem-solving, and technical governance skills. Desirable Skills Experience with SAP Cloud Identity Services, SAP BTP, Cloud Connector, API Management, or Event Mesh. Familiarity with procurement, source-to-pay, supplier management, external workforce, and services procurement processes. Experience using SAP Cloud ALM for implementation governance, monitoring, and operational support. Experience implementing digital adoption platforms such as WalkMe across SAP cloud applications. Understanding of enterprise architecture, security standards, audit controls, data privacy, and compliance requirements. Experience in large-scale ERP transformation, cloud migration, or SAP modernisation programmes. SAP certifications in Ariba, Fieldglass, SAP BTP, Cloud ALM, SuccessFactors, or related SAP cloud technologies.
