The Senior Developer will work closely alongside the multi-discipline squad (BAs; Developers; QA) in an Agile way to deliver business value via updates to existing platforms, developing new platforms and integrating with internal and existing functions. Role Purpose You will be responsible for assisting BAs with story shaping; developing quality, robust solutions; supporting the QA during testing and facilitating the build out of continuous integration/delivery pipelines. The development team is a strong unit and are pivotal to the success of our digital transformation journey. You will contribute to the continuous improvement of our platforms and processes, working closely with Head of Business Technology, development and infrastructure colleagues. Duties and Responsibilities Work closely with the Delivery Manager to ensure the smooth delivery of quality, robust solutions Participate in Agile ceremonies and actively contribute to the success of the development team and our wider business colleagues Deliver tested, working solutions and support the development team in QA and deployment activities Understand the legacy and digital transformation landscape at Evolve and effectively contribute to that, leading some initiatives where appropriate Liaise with development and infrastructure colleagues with regards to continuous improvement activities, proposing solutions where appropriate Working closely with Agile Development Team colleagues Assisting colleagues in Refinement/3 Amigos sessions to ensure user stories are ready for development in an efficient manner Delivering quality, robust and tested software solutions Supporting QAs in the timely resolution of bugs arising from changes Contributing to technical roadmaps, proof of concepts and the development of our service orientated architecture Leading spike investigations into technical, process and delivery challenges Personal Skills and Experience Extensive experience in working as a Senior Developer in a commercial environment Conversion of user stories to software applications and components to exacting standards with baked in test coverage Experience in service-orientated architecture, API interfaces and Azure service bus backbone Ability to contribute to technical architecture discussions and to influence decisions to achieve the stated aim Proven record of work in Agile squads with full contribution to ceremonies Postman/JMeter testing and automation Strong skills in C#.net SQL Server; Entity Framework (Core) Web API Mvc Strong Object Orientated development The ideal candidate You will be experienced Agile practitioner and passionate about delivering value and confident enough to identify issues and propose solutions pro-actively. Experience working in the Utilities sector would be advantageous but is by no means essential. Scrum Master and real-world experience of CRM implementation (either external or internal) would be desirable as would previous exposure to Docker or other containerisation technologies. RolePurpose: We are looking for a Lead Developer to own and drive this migration - someone who can architect with confidence, write excellent C# code, champion engineering best practices, and build a high-performing engineering team through technical leadership, mentoring and modern software engineering practices. This is a hands-on individual contributor role with real technical leadership: you will mentor senior and mid-level developers, set standards, and shape the engineering culture of the team. You will report directly to senior leadership and have a meaningful voice in technology decisions. Design services using Domain-Driven Design (DDD), CQRS and Event Sourcing, including service boundaries, data ownership and communication patterns across REST and Azure Service Bus Consider .NET Aspire for local development orchestration and service discovery, reducing environment setup friction for the team Make pragmatic architectural decisions that balance modern greenfield patterns with the realities of an early-stage migration Technical Delivery Write high-quality, production-ready C# across ASP.NET Core Minimal APIs, Blazor United (SSR and WebAssembly) and internal gRPC services Build and maintain Azure-native infrastructure: AKS, Azure Functions v4, Service Bus, Azure SQL, Azure Cache for Redis, Key Vault Design and evolve CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps (or GitHub Actions), including build, test, container image scanning, and blue-green deployment automation Own infrastructure-as-code using Bicep or Terraform, and embed observability from day one using OpenTelemetry alongside Application Insights Champion test-driven development, including meaningful unit testing with xUnit, integration testing with Playwright and consumer-driven contract testing between services, for example using Pact.
