Lead Infrastructure Engineer Location: City of London/Essex (Office & Client Sites) Job Type: Permanent Salary: £50,000 - 60,000 per annum About the Role We're looking for an experienced Lead Infrastructure Engineer to join our growing Managed Services team. This is a hands-on technical leadership role, ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex infrastructure challenges while mentoring a small team of engineers. You'll act as the highest technical escalation point, lead infrastructure and cloud projects, and play a key role in delivering exceptional service to our customers. Working across Microsoft technologies, cloud platforms, networking and cyber security, you'll help shape technical standards, improve service delivery and ensure our clients receive industry-leading support. What You'll Be Doing Technical Leadership Act as the highest technical escalation point for complex customer incidents. Mentor and support two junior engineers, providing guidance and technical leadership. Review and approve technical solutions before implementation. Develop and maintain technical standards, documentation and best practices. Perform root cause analysis on recurring issues and implement long-term solutions. Infrastructure & Cloud Projects Lead infrastructure projects from design through to implementation. Deliver Microsoft 365 tenant migrations. Plan and execute server migrations including: Physical to Virtual (P2V) Virtual to Virtual (V2V) Azure Cloud migrations Microsoft 365 tenant-to-tenant migrations Lead customer onboarding and technical transition projects. Design secure, scalable Microsoft Cloud environments. Microsoft Infrastructure Support and administer: Microsoft 365 Exchange Online SharePoint Online Microsoft Teams OneDrive Entra ID (Azure AD) Microsoft Intune Azure Infrastructure Windows Server Active Directory Group Policy DNS DHCP File Services Virtualisation Support and maintain: VMware Hyper-V Networking & Security Firewalls VPN technologies LAN/WAN infrastructure Backup and Disaster Recovery Microsoft security solutions Cyber security best practice Security hardening Compliance and resilience Service Delivery Deliver outstanding 2nd and 3rd Line support. Maintain SLA performance across all customer tickets. Use Atera RMM to manage and resolve incidents. Maintain accurate technical documentation within Hudu. Attend customer sites to install, configure and troubleshoot infrastructure where required. Participate in the Out of Hours support rota (maximum one week per month with additional payment). About You You'll be an experienced infrastructure professional who enjoys both hands-on technical work and mentoring others. You'll have: Minimum 5 years' experience in an Infrastructure Engineer or Senior 3rd Line role. Previous experience within a Managed Service Provider (MSP) environment. Strong customer-facing communication skills. Experience leading technical projects. Experience mentoring or supervising engineers. Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. A proactive and organised approach.
