Lead Automation Engineer R&D Profile + Working within the R&D group to develop automation on production systems for the Biopharmaceutical market + Lead automation development or improvement from an early phase, managing specification, design, industrialization, and transfer to manufacturing as part of a global multi-disciplinary product development team. + This role will focus on common standards for automation architecture and overall strategy in collaboration with hardware and software engineering. Essential Job Functions: + Interact with and support other departments and outsourced teams (such as supply chain, quality, logistics and product management) to facilitate handover and ensure all have required knowledge of products. + Be a resource for ongoing development projects by: - Developing new design concepts in alignment with industry standards - Transferring qualified design packages to engineering group for customer configuration - Analyzing and identifying strong vendors and partners - Leading prototype design, build, and testing - Authoring documentation for internal audience as well as end users - Providing ongoing expertise for technical problem solving post-launch + Collaborating with maintenance teams during development and assisting with generation of strong maintenance procedures. + Travel will vary according to project needs but may be up to 30% across multiple months. Yearly average of 20% or less. Travel will mainly include United States, Belgium, Germany and United Kingdom. Candidate must have capability to obtain entry into these countries given appropriate visa assistance. Minimum Qualifications: + Minimum degree or equivalent in a relevant Engineering field or Computer Science degree with relevant automation experience. + 5+ years experience in an industrial Automation Engineering or relevant Product Design role Position Competencies: + Demonstrated success in leadership including developing and executing project plans and reporting plans/results to management. + Proven track record of product development including management of outside contractors, automation architecture design, authorship of specifications, maintenance of appropriate documentation and ability to work within a global multi-disciplinary team + Language: Technical English fluency required Assets: - Experience working with PLC code (from any major PLC supplier) and GAP - Basic knowledge of one or more programming languages (C++, C#, WinCC, Python preferred) - Soft prototyping capability in CAD packages such as SolidWorks, ProE or similar - Familiarity with the biopharmaceutical industry and applicable security regulations for automated products such as 21CFR part 11 - Experience with developing products for use in GMP environments including a working knowledge of GAMP 5 development strategies - Familiarity with common communications protocols such as OPC-DA/UA and Modbus (serial and Ethernet) - Experience of software application life cycle management + Ability to read and/or communicate effectively in German/Dutch/French

Key Responsibilities & Duties + Use your Aerospace contacts to develop leads and obtain RFQ’s + Confirm bid/no bid decisions with the Business Development Manager + Analysis of customer contract T&C’s + Develop robust concepts and solutions in response to RFQs + Prepare a technical response to RFQs + Issue of RFQ’s to specialist equipment or service suppliers and subsequent quotation analysis + Produce detailed cost estimates in accordance with the company procedures + Create detailed project execution timing plans and where required, cycle time diagrams using MS Project + Ability to use 3D cad to generate concept drawings to assist the customer and suppliers to understand the proposed concept + Compile all necessary documentation and submit the response to the RFQ + Manage time efficiently to ensure RFQ requests are submitted by the bid due date + Engage with the customer during the bid evaluation process and present our proposal to the customer as required + Prepare and deliver professional presentations using MS PowerPoint + Generate opportunities throughout the UK and Ireland to receive RFQ requests from aerospace customers + Build and develop professional relationships with customers and prospective customers + Advising senior management of opportunities gathered through field activities and business intelligence to maximise the Aerospace business potential + Meet agreed targets and promote the organisation throughout the UK and Ireland + Developing existing accounts and new prospective customers, understanding competitors, and monitoring the market using your pre-existing network in the industry Position Requirements & Experience + Strong knowledge of the aerospace industry + An individual who can develop new sales opportunities for the company through appropriate propositions and sales methods in line with the long term business strategy + A competent and proficient understanding of this customer market and the ability to manage and win project business and major programmes, together with solid technical knowledge of Aircraft + A high level of interpersonal, written and oral communications skills + A technical sales background preferably degree qualified or equivalent in a relevant technical discipline (Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, etc) + Good level of product and service experience managing technical sales, across the aerospace markets + Clean driving licence and willingness to work a flexible schedule and spend nights away from home + High level presentation skills are crucial, as this forms a core requirement of the day to day role + A self-starting sales professional with proven 5 years+ experience in a technical engineering environment + You will be expected to be highly presentable, confident and comfortable to interact with customers across all management levels. + Proven experience in aerospace business development is essential, whether having worked for an OEM, Tier 1 or as a supplier + Proficient MS Office, MS Project, MS PowerPoint skills etc. + SAP experience would be useful The successful candidate can expect an attractive salary and an excellent benefits package depending upon experience.
