The role requires onsite work and close collaboration with MOD content providers to deliver a fully integrated training system. You will own verification, validation, and assurance across models and integrated simulation systems, acting as the authority on whether systems are fit for use. Highly analytical and structured. Clear communicator, able to present findings credibly to technical and non-technical stakeholders. Comfortable operating in assurance-heavy and regulated environments. Comfortable making and defending decisions about system credibility and fitness-for-purpose Key Technical Proficiencies Strong understanding of VV&A principles and frameworks as well as model and system validation approaches. Experience in validating simulation models, assessing fitness-for-purpose and producing structured validation evidence. Expert in test planning and execution, as well as functional, integrated and regression testing. Ability to validate behavioural correctness, effects and interactions and timing and responsiveness. Experience integrating documentation into governed systems. Familiarity with Defence and M&S standards such as JSP 939, NATO VV&A guidance, and relevant FOMs (e.g. RPR-FOM, NETN-FOM) is desirable. Experience producing structured documentation and evidence aligned to regulated or authority-driven environments. Experience integrating validation outputs into governed systems, including linking validation status and evidence to versioned artefacts. Experience with tooling to support testing and validation (e.g. automated test frameworks, data analysis tools, scripting in Python) is desirable. What You'll Be Responsible For Own verification, validation and assurance (VV&A) across models, simulation components, and integrated training systems, and supporting data. Define and maintain test and validation strategy aligned to training needs, customer requirements, system capabilities, and exercise design intent. Design and execute functional and integration tests and scenario based validation exercises. Validate models against authoritative data sources, SME expectations and expected behaviours. Assess model fidelity and realism, behavioural correctness, and system performance under realistic conditions. Validate end-to-end system behaviour, including cross-system interactions, data flows, timing, and consistency. Support authority-led validation, acceptance, and accreditation activities. Produce test plans, validation reports and evidence packs for customer review. Ensure validation outcomes are recorded, traceable, and linked to content and system versions. Provide clear, defensible evidence to support decisions on whether systems are fit for training use. Key Technical Proficiencies C++ and Go (Golang). Cloud Native Computing & SDLC (Kubernetes, Git, CI/CD, ORAS, ArgoCD etc.) Strong debugging and problem-solving skills across system boundaries. Ability to reason about performance, latency, and system behaviour. Familiarity with containerisation, Kubernetes-style environments, and distributed deployments. What You'll Be Responsible For Leading a team of developers and the Skyral primary point of contact at Warminster. You will hold technical accountability across multiple concurrent projects, whilst ensuring the team delivers a fully working training system, not just components. Support the development solution architectures and turn these into implementation. Make technical decisions across modelling, integration, and platform usage. Step into problems across modelling challenges, integration issues, deployment blockers and guide engineering work across all disciplines. Ensure solutions are designed to be composable, reusable, and comply with platform-first principles. Act as the final escalation point for technical issues on site. Ensure models, data, and services work together correctly, are consistent, and can be deployed and run repeatedly as part of a training system. Build UI components that consume platform API's, display realtime data and allow users to interact with simulations. Compose training systems from reusable models, terrain, environmental data, interfaces and simulation services. Define and manage system configurations, component dependencies, as well as data flows between components. Integrate internal models, third-party content, and legacy simulation systems, often working across non-standard or imperfect interfaces. Implement interface mapping, data transformations and configuration logic. A flair for front end design and visualisation, particularly for operational or data-heavy systems. Key Technical Proficiencies Strong programming skills in Go, Python, React and Typescript. Capability to diagnose and solve cross-system issues, data mismatch as well as timing and synchronisation problems. Ability to build usable interfaces for complex systems which handle real-time data. An understanding of event driven / event sourced architectures (Kafka) data contracts, databases and schemas. Able to design and implement interface layers as well as map and transform data between systems. Able to diagnose cross-system issues, data mismatches and synchronisation problems.
