Controls & Automation Engineer - Site Based DCS & Instrumentation €55-85k + 9% Bonus, Pension, Career Development Flexible Working, Option for Hybrid South West Ireland Ref: 25526 Excellent opportunity for a Controls & Automation Engineer with DCS experience to join a leading global manufacturing business, supporting production, process improvement and capital projects within a modern industrial facility, without being buried in documentation. Working as part of a dedicated site engineering team, you'll have the opportunity to influence process performance, support new product introductions and contribute to the ongoing development of automation systems that are critical to site operations. Controls & Automation Engineer The Role: Working across both established manufacturing and new product introductions, you'll be involved in everything from troubleshooting instrumentation and control systems through to commissioning new equipment and supporting automation projects. The role is approximately 90% hands-on engineering, including: Fault finding and debugging instrumentation, control systems and plant equipment Commissioning new and modified process and utility equipment Supporting new product introductions and process improvements Programming and modifying recipes within the DCS Supporting automation change controls and commissioning activities Working closely with production, maintenance and project teams to keep the site running efficiently Managing automation and control projects through specification, implementation, qualification and commissioning Creating, reviewing and approving commissioning documentation and change controls Maintaining site automation systems to ensure compliance, reliability and minimal downtime Reviewing and approving electrical drawings, control documentation and P&IDs Participating in process safety reviews, HAZOP studies, risk assessments and root cause investigations Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations Providing on-call support and responding to site call-outs when required Controls & Automation Engineer What We're Looking For: We're keen to speak with engineers who have: 3+ years' experience within industrial automation or process controls A degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Instrumentation or similar Experience with a DCS platform (DeltaV experience is advantageous but not essential) Strong instrumentation and fault-finding skills Experience within process manufacturing such as chemicals, pharmaceuticals, food, beverage or similar Experience designing, configuring, programming and commissioning control systems Understanding of electrical and instrumentation drawings, control schematics and P&IDs Knowledge of process safety systems, ATEX regulations, HAZOP studies and risk assessments Previous experience within pharmaceutical, chemical, process manufacturing or other regulated industries Experience supporting capital projects, commissioning activities and continuous improvement programmes Why Join?
