The role This is a chance to join a passionate team leveraging cutting edge AI to improve mental health access globally. As a Member of Technical Staff focused on Mobile Engineering, you will raise the bar for our mobile apps: designing, building, and launching the features that make Ash an even more engaging and effective product. As a core member of a small but highly skilled team, we expect you to act as an owner and to care passionately about delivering value to our users and ultimately to make people's lives better. We are looking for builders who care deeply about the quality of their work and want to ship things that make a real difference in people's lives. Our tech stack uses Dart/Flutter for the app, Kotlin for core backend services, Python for our ML work, Next.js/TypeScript for internal tooling, as well as Rust for low level media streaming. We use gRPC and GCP (Kubernetes, Cloud Run) as our primary cloud provider. You're not expected to be an expert in all of these, but we would like you to come with a learning mindset and to not be afraid of getting your hands dirty with whatever tool the job might require. About you 4+ years of software engineering experience, playing a key role in shipping a high quality consumer mobile app that is used at meaningful scale. Strong product instincts and real opinions about UX, performance, and craft. You notice the latency that makes the app feel slow even when the metrics look fine, and you fix it. Driven by creating a world class product with a world class team, wanting to own what you build, and happy tearing down experiments and features as we learn. Comfortable building across the full stack, a keen learner who picks up new languages, technology stacks, and concepts quickly. Experience working in a fast paced environment, owning end to end features and experiments that ship in days. Nice to have Experience working on apps with realtime or voice features. Experience building and shipping Flutter apps in production. Experience working on service oriented systems in production. Experience working with ML codebases (we don't need you to be an ML Engineer, but having an interest in AI helps!) Key responsibilities Collaborate within a cross functional team spanning engineering, machine learning, and product to quickly design, build, and launch new app features. Elevate user experience by continually refining app reliability, performance, and polish. Take initiative to independently prototype new features based on customer feedback and your own product intuitions. Work across all parts of our stack, which includes the app (Dart/Flutter), services (Kotlin), internal tooling (Next.js/TypeScript), and ML codebase (Python). Rapidly investigate, diagnose, and resolve bugs to ensure product stability. The role We're looking for Technical Ex-Founders to join our Engineering team. If you wrote your company's early code, operated it through real user growth, and miss building and shipping more than you miss anything else about the founder job, this role is for you. Engineers who've founded or been the early technical leader at a startup tend to thrive at Slingshot because they get to work autonomously and own a large set of problems. They're product-minded owners by default, comfortable defining a problem, talking to users, building a solution, and iterating. We'll always have a place for smart and motivated technical people who have built and scaled something interesting.
