Principal Software Engineer - Avionics This is an immediate requirement for a Principal Software Engineer or Senior Software Engineer with experience of working on real time operating systems. A great opportunity has arisen for a Software Engineer to work for a leading avionics design company in the Bristol area. This Principal Software Engineer role will be working on a number of new programmes and products being developed for both the UK aerospace and marine markets. The ideal candidate will have experience of working on embedded systems using a mix of languages like C, C++ and C#. ****** JOB DESCRIPTION & REQUIREMENTS Responsibilities for this Software Engineer role Working at a senior level the role shall support both the Aerospace & Marine business units in the development of: i) aircraft simulator software ii) submarine control software - Support the development of a variety of systems and applications. - Be hands-on with some team leading responsibility and customer-facing activity. - Support development of the Company's software capability for its future growth. Requirements for this Software Engineer role - Candidates will be degree qualified in a Software/Systems Engineering discipline. - Ability to work independently or within projects as technical lead - Proven track record of software development across the full software engineering lifecycle. - Experience of object orientated programming principles and Structured Design Methodologies such as UML. - Knowledge of interface and communications protocols (e.g. TCP/IP, CAN, SPI). - Experience of hardware/software integration, testing and customer support - Possess good interpersonal, communications, presentation and reporting skills. - Practical experience of: - Real-time operating systems e.g. QNX, LynxOS Windows, Linux based GUIs - Practical experience one or more of the following languages: - C++, C, C# Some foreign travel to support customers may be required ****** Due to the nature of the work at this site, applicants must be capable of achieving SC level UK security clearance. Electronics Systems Architect - Satellite / Payload This is an immediate requirement for an Electronics Systems Architect or Electrical Payloads Engineer with experience of working in either the satellite / space sector, Aerospace OR Automotive sectors. A great opportunity has arisen for a Systems / Electronics Architect to work for a leading satellite design company in the Bristol area. This role will be working on the R&D of new satellite technologies being developed for the International Space Station and other European partnerships. The ideal candidate will be capable in the designing, integration, testing, operation and commissioning of innovative electronic / electrical systems. Previous Space / Satellite experience is not a requirement if you have done similar work in sectors like Aerospace, Automotive or defence. Re-locators are also welcome to apply and my client can offer assistance to those who qualify. ****** JOB DESCRIPTION & REQUIREMENTS Responsibilities for this Electronics Systems Architect role - Participate to the Payload Module architecture definition and will be in charge of the Payload Electrical architecture trade-offs - Deliver the Payload Electrical Engineering tasks - Develop a data handling architecture for the Payload Module that satisfies the requirements, conducting trade-offs where necessary and verification planning - Provide inputs to TM/TC budget, mass budget, thermal budget - Define strategy for handling the calibration data base - Define lower level requirements for Payload Computer, Software, Harness, etc. - Define Payload Module power outlets and pyros needed - Carry out initial harness routing and update as appropriate - Produce Electrical and Grounding diagram for the Payload Module - Critically review inputs from Payload providers and refine the Payload Module design Requirements for this Electronics Systems Architect role - Electrical System engineering - Experience of digital and power electronics engineering - Experience of space PA/QA processes would be an asset - Experience of software engineering would be an asset - Experience with producing relevant documents and presenting at reviews - Experience in technical proposal preparation would be an asset - Experience of EMC would be an asset - Understanding of thermal/structural/mechanical issues - Understanding of parts stress, worst case, radiation, reliability and FMECA analyses - Experience of working in a multi-discipline team environment - Customer, partners, suppliers interface - Experience of R&D projects, satellites studies
