About the role Join our Product Design team in Brighton where you'll take ownership of Paxton's hardware products, managing their success from early concept through to launch, optimisation, and end-of-life. Own the end-to-end lifecycle of one or more hardware product lines, including strategy, roadmap, delivery, optimisation, and obsolescence planning. Define clear product vision and requirements, translating customer needs and business goals into hardware, firmware, and software outcomes. Take accountability for commercial performance, including pricing, margins, cost control, and overall lifecycle profitability. Lead hardware product development through design reviews, prototyping, validation, release, and ongoing improvement. Ensure products meet quality, safety, security, and regulatory standards, managing risk and change in a controlled way. Work closely with engineering teams to balance customer needs, technical constraints, scalability, and time-to-market. Use customer insight, market analysis, and competitor intelligence to shape product positioning and future opportunities. Support go-to-market activity and internal enablement through clear documentation, guidance, and cross functional collaboration. What are we looking for? Proven experience as a Product Manager or Product Owner managing hardware products, with exposure to firmware and/or software. Strong understanding of hardware product lifecycles, with the ability to work confidently with engineering and technical teams. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to make and own decisions. About the role We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team based in our Brighton office, with a strong background in building scalable, high-quality, and high-performance software solutions. This is a hands on role where you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining software that is critical to our flagship access control products. You will also be responsible for mentoring and coaching team members. You will design solutions for new features and bug fixes according to project requirements and specifications You will provide leadership for project requirements, planning and reporting Collaborate with the Principal Engineer, Apps and Cloud teams Ensure the technical integrity of user interfaces, back end API services, mobile apps, and cloud services, using test driven design methodologies and best practice Identify problems or risks early on in the development cycle to help the team avoid or mitigate these risks to ensure efficient delivery of work to be completed You will be able to help provide input and suggestions to other team member's designs or take part int the decision making process to ensure progress on tasks and deliverables You will play an active part in reviewing your own and other people's code throughout the development process to help the team ensure good coding practices as we deliver our work Review and provide feedback on requirements, specifications and designs to assure product quality Actively contribute towards decision on overall architecture and technologies used in our software products What are we looking for? A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field is required. Proven industry experience may be accepted as a substitute. Solid Experience in back end development, especially in C# .NET and experience with front end technologies such as HTML, CSS, Angular or React would be advantageous Strong Experience with .NET Web API Solid Experience working with Databases Knowledge or experience with Azure cloud services would be advantageous but is not essential An excellent team player who enjoys collaborating with other developers on your team The right attitude is more important to us than your skills or experience.
