About the Role At DTC, our Embedded Engineers enjoy a varied role with a steady stream of challenging new projects to work on. You will program in C++ for embedded applications and sometimes in C for low-level Linux kernel device drivers. If you have experience in DSP or VHDL/FPGA, those skills will be put to good use, or could be developed as part of your ongoing training and professional development. Most of our Embedded Engineers enjoy getting hands-on with hardware as well, although we do have a dedicated Hardware and RF Team who take care of most of the heavy lifting. Our technology is deployed nationwide by UK law enforcement and internationally across military, defence and government markets, enabling secure video, data and communications across complex networked environments. About the Role At DTC, our Software Engineers enjoy a varied role with a steady stream of challenging projects to work on. As a Senior Software Engineer within our Applications Team, you will lead the design, development and maintenance of complex desktop and mobile applications that underpin our product portfolio across multiple sectors. You will work across the full product lifecycle, shaping requirements, defining scalable architectures, and delivering secure, high integrity software used in operational environments. The role combines enhancement of established, nationally deployed platforms with the development of new products and capabilities, particularly within emerging military applications. You will develop in modern C++ and Qt across multiple platforms, collaborate closely with embedded, hardware and RF engineers, and contribute to a culture of technical excellence through code reviews, mentoring and continuous improvement. This is a hands on, engineering led role based on site in Whiteley, working within the Applications Team and closely with the Embedded and Hardware Team. Informal flexibility is available, but regular on-site presence is essential.
