Unix Engineer - DV - Gloucestershire - 6 Months - START ASAP Skills/Competencies Mandatory: * Proficient in RedHat Enterprise Linux 5/6/7.x (Ideally with certification) and /or Solaris 10/11.x * Experience with installations, monitoring, troubleshooting * Firm understanding and experience of Security and related hardening practices, Remote provisioning technologies, RHNS and Shell scripting. Desirable: * VMWARE (vsphere), AD, DHCP, DNS, NIS, Unix/Linux performance tuning and knowledge of kernel tuning. * Understanding of patching (YUM) * Basic understanding of networking and Storage Technologies Attributes: * An understanding of competencies associated with other technical towers Storage connectivity, RAID and zoning TCP/IP technology, Network classes/CIDR. LINUX * Solid technical background to draw upon, from an enterprise level, data centre or third level solution centre background. * Strong problem investigation and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to analyse and resolve technical issues around Software installation. * Capability to work in partnership with Architecture to scope and understand the client's requirements. * Ability to critique architectural designs within your technical competencies. * Competence to confidently work in partnership with the client to deliver working solutions to deadlines. * Proficiency to be able to communicate progress and issues to agreed Stakeholders in a timely understandable manner. * Diligence that delivers documentation to support the technical solution, and also in partnership with Architecture evolves the original design documentation to be reflective of the actual build. * A team player that is able to work with minimal supervision. Job Title: Senior Control Systems Engineer Location: East Midlands Contract: Long term (12 months +) Pay Rates: c. £30 - 35/ph My client is a leading international automotive and engineering consultancy. Due to new contract wins and continued growth, we are now looking to recruit a Senior Control Systems Engineer. The Senior Controls Engineer will be crucial in the delivering of an exciting engine and vehicle control system development project. The ideal candidate will possess knolwedge and experience of some or all of the following: * writing code * using Matlab and Simulink * Diesel engines Knowledge / Experience * You will need to be an exceptional multi-skilled controls engineer, with experience of working in multi discipline engineering teams, experience of automotive product design, complex systems integration and the use of advanced technologies. * Successful history of delivery within the automotive sector in passenger car, commercial vehicle or off highway applications, although other sectors are of interest * Strong experience and technical knowledge of model development, rapid prototyping and auto-coding, specifically using the Mathworks toolchain * Experience of creating, integrating and testing embedded automotive software, using industry standards. ISO 26262 software development desirable * Experience working with a range of communication systems (CAN, Ethernet, Lin, Flexray). * Experience of HiL/SiL development and prototype vehicle/engine build up and managing issue resolution. * Knowledge of Diesel engine control system theory and development is desirable * You will be degree educated or significant equivalent experience or qualifications. * Excellent communicator with the ability to lead the resolution of business, technical and process issues as they arise. * Knowledge of change control, product definition and change management processes will also prove invaluable.
