About the Role - We are seeking an experienced Senior Civil / Infrastructure Engineer to join the Glasgow Office. This opportunity would suit someone who can demonstrate Civil Engineering experience within a consultancy environment experience. The successful candidate will have the chance to work in one of the UK's leading private Engineering Consultancies, providing integrated solutions for a range of public and private clients. RESPONSIBILITIES Liaise with architects, clients and other professionals whilst carrying out duties and at all times represent the practice in a professional and courteous way. Manage projects, providing support, mentoring and guidance to less experienced colleagues The role requires an Engineer who will be client facing, with the ability to represent the Company externally at a senior level, alongside managing their own workload and the ability to manage a number of projects at any one time. Check calculations, specifications, drawings and reports produced by others, in accordance with the company's operational procedures. Excellent communications skills are paramount and to be capable of managing design teams both internally and externally. As a member of the team you will demonstrate strong team work qualities and be self motivated. Experience of working in all development sectors. Experience in highway and drainage design with a working knowledge of UK design standards is needed, together with the ability to balance several projects and meet project timetables. Experience in using AutoCAD, Autotrack, PDS, Civil 3D, Site 3D, MicroDrainage, Flow and/or other civil engineering packages to design and detail highway and drainage infrastructure and other civil engineering requirements on residential, commercial, industrial developments and all other sector developments. Undertake site visits to monitor the progress of works against specifications, and highlight issues to the contractor, client and/or (internal or external) project manager as necessary. Working knowledge of Sewers for Scotland, Section 56 Agreements and full RCC Packages. Ability to produce (or assist) engineering supporting reports for planning applications such as Flood Risk Assessment reports, Drainage Strategy and Assessments, Site Viability assessments etc. Full clean driving licence. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Technical & Design Develop conceptual and detailed designs of development infrastructure and highway using DMRB, Manual for Streets, and relevant national standards. Prepare detailed design drawings, specifications, and technical reports. Oversee modelling and analysis for horizontal and vertical alignment, pavement design, and traffic-related aspects. Ensure all deliverables meet quality, safety, and sustainability standards. Review and approve work completed by engineers and technicians. Manage projects from feasibility through to construction stages. Develop and maintain project programmes, budgets, and resource allocation. Prepare fee proposals and support bid submissions. Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, internal departments, and external stakeholders. Client & Stakeholder Engagement Act as a primary point of contact for clients, local authorities, and external partners. Attend meetings, workshops, and site visits as required. Build and maintain strong working relationships to support business development. Attend and contribute as appropriate at design meetings and site progress meetings. Quality and Compliance Provide technical governance on projects to ensure a technically excellent delivery in accordance with the client's brief. liaise with statutory bodies and consultants such as local authorities, Transport Scotland, NatureScot, SEPA. Management, guidance, mentoring, and support of junior engineers and technicians within project teams to ensure quality of design output and management of deliverables to a specified budget and programme. Contribute to team development, knowledge sharing, and best practice initiatives. QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline. Chartered or near chartered status (CEng MICE or equivalent). Strong experience in the design and delivery of road and highway projects in the UK.
