Remote Full Stack Software Engineer (Senior, Python / Rust / Go & React, Insurance) Our broker platform is the core technology crucial to success - allowing us to evolve underwriting intelligently and unlock massive scale. We're a multi-disciplined team, bringing together expertise in software and data engineering, full stack development, platform operations, algorithm research, and data science. Our squads focus on delivering high-impact features - we favour a highly iterative, analytical approach. We're looking for a Software Engineer (Full-stack) to join our Development team. PROJECT STACK and TEAM We exist to enhance the experience of brokers and clients by saving them time and eliminating the friction and cost it takes to place risk at Lloyd's of London. We empower brokers with instant underwriting decisions, anytime, anywhere. Our proprietary algorithm that underwrites risk, used in conjunction with the latest machine learning technology, enables us to make faster more informed decisions. MAIN REQUIREMENTS Strong in a semi mainstream programming language (e.g. Python, Typescript, Rust, Go, etc) Proficient with frontend/GUI framework Good understanding of data processing, API design/integration, and system architecture Comfortable adopting new tools and technologies as needed - adaptability is more important than narrow specialisation security/infra deep insurance domain background (but still eng first) Mindset & Working Style Proactive problem solver - digs deep to understand, fix, and improve systems without waiting for direction Ownership driven - takes responsibility for outcomes and cares about the success of the product Builder mentality - has independently built and shipped projects; understands decision making and trade offs Versatile - comfortable working across backend, frontend, infrastructure, architecture, and debugging Curious and quick learner - eager to explore and master new frameworks and approaches Project Context Core focus on agentic orchestration (e.g. LangGraph) Ideally has hands on experience with LangGraph, LangChain, or similar frameworks Otherwise, can demonstrate the ability to learn and apply these rapidly Domain curiosity - interest in or willingness to understand insurance systems and workflows is an advantage GOOD TO HAVE Cultural Fit Startup minded: comfortable with ambiguity, rapid iteration, and autonomy Communicates clearly and collaborates well within a small, fast moving team Sees the bigger picture - contributes to shaping direction, not just executing tasks Thrives in environments where impact matters more than hierarchy Experience deploying AI/LLM systems into production. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Build robust and scalable software for business critical, web based applications Build eye catching, functional, efficient, and reusable web and mobile based sites that drive these web applications Design, build, test, document and maintain APIs and integrations Ensure quality control using industry standard techniques such as automated testing, pairing, and code review Work with the Product team to understand end user requirements and translate them into an effective technical solution Document technical design and analysis work; assess current system architecture and identify opportunities for growth and improvement Build mock ups or prototypes to explore and troubleshoot new initiatives Work with the Product team and UX designers to review designs, implement new features, and ensure user experience is top level Explore new ideas and emerging technologies, develop prototypes quickly Uphold the engineering team's principles and ways of working SUMMARY Work your way - Enjoy the freedom to work from anywhere, with flexible hours that match your natural rhythm.
