Job Summary - Perform regular maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of security systems to ensure optimal functionality. Diagnose and rectify faults quickly, effectively and efficiently. - Perform reactive service visits as required to meet contracted customer's service level agreements. - Perform planned preventive maintenance visits as required in line with contracted customers service level agreements. - Provide support and advice to clients regarding their security systems, addressing queries and offering solutions to resolve issues. - Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies. Maintain accurate records of work performed, including reactive service and planned preventive maintenance reports. - Work closely with the service administration and engineering teams to ensure we deliver exceptional service to our clients. - To be available for standby on a call-out Rota, as required within the team. - As the business grows, manage and mentor service engineering team Skills - Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills. - Understanding of current industry standards and regulations (e.g., BS EN 50131, PD6662, NCP 104 and NCP 109). - Excellent communication and customer service skills. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team. - Good time-management skills. - Able to identify and solve problems independently. - Have a professional and positive attitude when dealing with customers. - Complete detailed work reports accurately and in good time. Knowledge & Experience - Proven experience maintaining and repairing security systems, such as CCTV, intruder alarms and access control. - Proven experience maintaining and repairing enterprise level systems such as LenelS2, Gallagher, C-Cure etc. - Experience with IP-based security systems, networks and security systems software applications. - Relevant industry and manufacturing training is favourable. - Relevant industry qualifications such as 18th edition/NVQ/City and Guilds/BTEC is Favourable. Role Specific - BS7858 Security Screening - Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check - SC Clearance is favourable - Full, clean driving licence - Right to Work in the UK - Participate in a 24-hour emergency call out Rota system - Some work away from home Working Conditions The potential significant hazards and risks for this job are identified below. My Belfast-based client is seeking an experienced and reliable Fire and Security Engineer to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated engineer looking to take ownership of their role and work on a variety of planned and reactive maintenance projects across fire and security systems. Job Purpose To carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), Reactive Maintenance, and emergency response works on a wide range of Fire & Security Systems in accordance with client contracts and safety regulations. Aims & Objectives Maintain engineering standards to maximise system performance and reliability Contribute to a high-performing team focused on exceptional client service Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety regulations Deliver responsive and effective maintenance and support services Key Responsibilities Carry out PPM in line with contract schedules Complete reactive maintenance and respond to system faults Diagnose faults and carry out necessary repairs and upgrades Ensure all work adheres to relevant health and safety and quality assurance protocols Maintain accurate records/documentation for each site Liaise with subcontractors and coordinate their attendance on-site Respond promptly to breakdowns and emergency call-outs as required Provide detailed reports and updates for completed work Support system upgrades and project-based installations where necessary Work alongside and support other trades and engineers on site Qualifications & Experience Essential: Proven experience working with fire alarm, intruder, access control, and CCTV systems Strong fault-finding and system commissioning skills Good understanding of current regulations (BS5839, BS EN54, etc.) Full UK driving licence Excellent communication and organisational skills Desirable: Industry-recognised certifications (e.g. FIA Units, IPAF, ECS, CSCS, manufacturer training) Experience working on major system brands (e.g. Gent, Advanced, C-Tec, Hikvision, Paxton, Galaxy, Texecom) What s in it for you?
